A few years ago my brother was a serious gamer. He would sit for hours on the computer playing all kinds of games online. I remember how he often different gaming keyboards, joysticks and mice. On mouse he did get was the A4Tech X-710MF Gaming Mouse. The reason I know he had this mouse was because he got bored of it and gave it to me when mine broke.
The X-710MF I received was in black colour with a white scrolling button although I know it is available a silver trim or in a red version. It look really good with a black finish all over and a futuristic design. I found the mouse to be very light and was expecting something a lot heavier and bigger bearing in mind it is a mouse for serious gamers. It weighs in at just over 100 grams and its size is 10 cm x 6 cm x 3.6 a size and weight similar to mice used for laptops.
The mouse is very easy to get going. It connects with its USB 2.0 cable into the USB port into my computer. As soon as it is in the port the mouse becomes in instant use. After that it becomes very complicated. It has 6 buttons. 1 and 6 works like left click and right click on a normal mouse which was great for me. The buttons 2-5 can be used in games 58 different actions. You can also use the buttons to create shortcuts on your desktop. This is all done through the complicated software that comes with the mouse. It was two difficult for me to get my head round so I just use it as a normal mouse. Saying this my brother finds it very easy to configure.
I have used this mouse for years now and still have not had any problems. Apparently the buttons support 8 million presses or clicks. The mouse itself supports up to 2.5 million meters travelled during its lifetime. I takes a pounding as well as I often give it a whack when my computer freezes.
I cannot find these on sale anywhere at the moment. Even Amazon is showing out of stock. I know it was released in 2006 so assume it has gone EOL.
My brother says it is a good mouse for gaming but a little small with the buttons too close together. When he upgraded to a bigger newer version he never needed to use it again. For me it is a great mouse that works as good as ever but like so many things is too technically advanced for me.
