Advantages: light, comportable, cheap, well featured
Disadvantages: easy to carry pen around and forget where you left it, only completely compatible with word 97
Firstly, before i write this review, i would like to state that i own the 5000u not the 6000u. this is because it is essentially the same, just a little smaller. the tech specs - 4inch by 5 inch active area, with 512 levels of pressure (loads!), 3048Ipi resolution. Runs off of a USB port. contains - pad, mouse (cordless, can only be used on pad), pen, 2 alkaline batteries (each lasting approx 1 year in the pen/mouse). 2 cd's of software. software - Corel art dabbler: a fairly basic and fun art package that lets you draw in various ways, such as with a brush, pencil, pen, water drops etc. it is great because you can actually create art with it, or edit photos to make them look hand drawn. it uses the pressure sensitivity - the harder you press, the thicker and darker the line is. handwriting recognition: this comes as three parts, one is a security lockout screensaver that allows two authorised signitures to open the pc. it can also be turned on on startup. another is handwriting text recognition. this allows you to use the pc without a keyboard! great, if you have the time to teach it how you write..... you can write letter by letter, or teach it words. it is fairly good, but time consuming to program. the last is a program that allows you to sign word documents as if with a pen, which is nice. review - i had not intended on buying this tablet, but saw it at the computer fair and fell in love with it. it looks great, clear green and see through. the pen is really light and comfortable to hold. the mouse is light, and glides smoothly on screen, but it unusual, as you never have to pick it up to move it across the screen. the mose and pen both have three buttons (no scroller wheel sadly). the pad also has 10 hotkeys along the top, useable by the pen, and can be easily programmed to open programs such as word or games. the software works really well, as long as you have windows 98, otherwise not all of the other
programs work. the response and relability is excellent. overall - the pad is great, and only slightly smaller than the 6000u. the mouse is fine to use. no complaints, was a bargain at £25 you could pay 3x the amount and get something 1/2 as good.

- 20/05/03 Welcome to DooYoo.. sorry for the delay in my getting to your op! Time is fleeting at the mo!
This was a quite useful op but could have used more information regarding processing, ram, charging times, battery life, available software, software prepacked and general usage. Also it is possible to suggest a product and preferable to just shoe-horning an op in, even if it is a similar product!
Finally don't forget if you read (and rate) more ops you'd be sure to draw in more reads for your work, thats just how it works here! It makes more sense to take the time to read than it does to produce too much, ideally look in the rewarded reviews section thats linked at the bottom of the front page. These are the ops to aspire too as they'll earn you a tasty £1.50 if you can make 'em.
Hope you have fun here.
S :o)
