A Mouse is in my opinion one of the most essential bits of kit that you can have on your computer. Not only does it aid in clicking and selecting items on screen but it also saves all the delicate finger movement required for a touch pad or even worse one of those tiny little red keys that you get on the majority of laptops. I use my Dell USB optical mouse on both my work laptop and on my home PC and it has served me well as a useful tool to save time.

The Mouse ~

This mouse is made entirely of plastic which is black all over with a transparent base, two silver keys and a silver 'DELL' logo on top. The mouse is curved in shape, meaning that it slots easily into your hand with the left key for your index finger and the right key for your middle finger. It also features a black wheel on top of the mouse for easy scrolling through web pages or documents. This mouse is controlled by a red LED on the base of the mouse which means that you can move it over a majority of hard surfaces and still move the sensor. This LED omits a red glow when the mouse is being moved which is visible through the transparent base.

Installation ~

This mouse is connected to the computer via a USB connection which means that it can be plugged into either a laptop or computer. It comes with a long cable which is sufficient in my case to run the mouse from underneath my desk to my worktop, a distance of approximately 1.5 metres. Once plugged in to the computer it should be instantly recognised on the toolbar menu and therefore should be instantly useable.

Price and Availability ~

I purchased my Dell USB Optical Mouse quite a while ago and I believe that it the design has since changed slightly, now being entirely black in colour. However it can be bought from Amazon currently for £5.00 new.

My Experience ~

This mouse quite simply saves me a lot of time in my day job as it takes away the reliance on a touch pad provided by my laptop. The mouse is easy to use and plugs easily into all computer ports. Although it looks slightly plain and simple in design, the red LED light adds a touch of colour to what would otherwise be quite a boring looking mouse. In addition this mouse is made by a reputable brand and since buying mine a couple of years ago I have had no problems with it.

I have therefore scored this mouse an easy 5 stars out of 5.
