a good laser mouse for a decent price

Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 is a 5 buttons laser mouse, very handy to use but not totally comfortable, it has a good 1000 dpi sensor and will be perfect for everything, from games to everyday use.

You must simply plug it in and the mouse will configure itself as a normal 5 button mouse with the two very tiny lateral buttons working as a back/forward browser button.

You can use the official software too that allow you to configure the mouse in any possible way you like, in the default version the button will be for:

left side button: Back (same as the browser button)

Right side button: Magnify - very useful from time to time to be able to read or magnify little pictures to see details better

Middle button: Instant Viewer - this is basically very similar to Windows Vista Aero function, it will put on screen all the open windows you have in a very comfortable all in one screen, you will be able to see everything and by moving your mouse you will be able to choose which one to open, if you have vista so is basically already in the system even if a little different, if you have XP and you want something aero-like this is somewhat similar and actually not being in 3d is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable.

You can Configure the extra buttons to do all sort of stuff, for example to zoom in and out or to use a special macro (some keys pushed together like ctrl-alt-del to open the control window of the operative system).

If you want to use it on Linux it will work as a standard 3 buttons mouse by default, you can probably make the 2 others buttons work but I actually never tried.

Being a Microsoft mouse is actually well built and of good quality, I rarely experienced some erratics problems and they were only due to the laser being not totally clean, I carefully clean it with a normal handkerchief, and the mouse returned to work perfectly.

It's Actually hard to find this mouse and probably the best way are Ebay or Amazon marketplace, the price is usually around £ 16 but you can probably find it even cheaper.
