Advantages: Very comfortable grip, extremely smooth across the mouse mat

Disadvantages: May be considered expensive to some - but not if you want a great mouse!

I first got into online gaming about 3 years ago and didn't have a clue about specific gaming keyboards and mice. I was happily playing with the 'standard' mouse that came with my PC until I upgraded my whole set up and decided that as I was gaming more frequently I needed a specific gaming mouse.

Logitech are renowed for their gaming equipment and after hours of research on the internet decided the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse was exactly what I needed.

I loved the look of this mouse from the moment I saw it but as my hands are not that big (i'm a girl after all!) I was slightly concerned that the mouse wouldn't feel as comfortable as the smaller mouse did that I'd had before. It also looked a little heavier than my previous mouse but looks can be deceiving! I first used the mouse to surf the Net to get used to it and I was extremely surprised by how it fit so perfectly in my hand and how comfortable I immediately was with it.

After a short while I decided it needed a real test - some online gaming! I'm no pro when it comes to gaming, I just play to relax, but I really appreciated the 'click' feature of the scroll wheel (as this is what I use to change weapons on CoD) and the effortless way the Polytetrafluoroethylene feet glided across the mouse mat to ensure smooth gameplay. Another great feature of the G5 is the two buttons positioned at the top of the mouse that change the sensitivity. This is particularly useful for when you are using different weapons and need the mouse to adapt to this. However, the best feature of all is that you can change the weight of the G5. Underneath the mouse there is a hidden slot where you can put up to eight weights of either 1.7g or 4.5g in the weight compartment. This versatility means that you can make the mouse as heavy or light as you wish depending on how you prefer your mouse to feel.

I feel that the G5 is ideal. It can be set up exactly how you want it to be and it has additional features to make online gaming so much easier. The speed that the mouse glides so smoothly across the mouse mat is fantastic and the precision of this mouse is quite amazing. I have had this mouse for a little while now and i've never had any problems with it - in fact I can't believe how I managed without it.

Although the mouse retails for between £30 and £40 I believe that it is well worth it. I also think it will last a long while so it is not something you will be replacing in 6 months time.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the G5 to anyone, especially those who love online gaming - its awesome!
