A sleek yet effective little mouse

I was looking for a mouse to use with my laptop a few months ago but didn't want to spend a fortune. There's a lot out there to choose from and it really does depend on your needs and personal preferences, but for me the Logitech LS1 is a perfect accompaniment on my desk at home.

Logitech is a reputable electronics brand that I trust to make effective products, so I was fairly confident this would be at least okay. The LS1 is a wired mouse of a standard size, which can be used with desktop or laptop computers. Most laptop users want a mini mouse that's wireless, but I wanted something that's easy to use for longer periods of time.

This mouse has a sleek black, shiny appearance with a slight lime green line around the circumference. I like the design because it's quite understated yet elegant and yet looks like good quality rather than like tacky plastic. In fact, I'd say it looks more expensive than what I paid for it, which is always a bonus.

The LS1 has two buttons and a scroll wheel, along with two smooth sections to each side to act like grips just to make it a little more comfortable and easy to use. It's a laser mouse so there's no irritating tracker ball to deal with.

This connects via USB, and it's a simple case of plug and play. You don't need to be getting out a DVD with software to install it, so it's very quick and easy to set up once you've found yourself a spare USB port to plug it in to. This works with Windows XP and above, as well as Mac OSx. I use Windows 7 and have found it to work without any problems to report.

The cable is a generous length to allow for ease of positioning; the USB I'm using is on the opposite side of my laptop to where I use the mouse, and there's plenty of cable left over so it doesn't snag.

The mouse itself is very ergonomic to use; it fits my hand well and it's comfortable to use for a more extended period of time. The laser is sensitive to just the right amount, making it highly responsive but not darting all over the place constantly. The buttons and scroll wheel work well and feel like good quality, in the sense that I've not noticed any form of sticking or friction that prevents them from working smoothly.

The mouse is suitable for left and right hand use, but as I'm a righty I can't really comment on the ease of use for those that are left handed. You also get a 3 year manufacturers guarantee, which is good to know.

All in all this mouse is easy to use, responsive and smooth, looks good with a sleek design and feels like it has a good build quality to last you a while.

RRP £19.99, selling at £12.99 on sale at Argos at current (Jan 2012)
(Also available, as per the picture, in blue, though I've not seen this in stores)

        laser mouse by Logitech

I have been having problems with my mouse as of late, so decided it was time to get a new one this time. I had always been used to having a cordless mouse but it wasn't the best when I got one so I decided to go back to having a cable. I have a few products from Logitech which is why when I saw this that I wanted to try it, also that it was laser rather than optical as it makes it more sensitive so that it will pick up on a signal a lot easier.

This mouse comes in a range of different colours but I opted for the purple one as I wanted something a bit different. It is only 9g in weight according to Amazon and it is about 10 x 6 cm approximately in dimensions so it is a lot more lightweight than other mice I have used and it looks a bit smaller to use. It has the Logitech logo on the front of it in white and has 2 panels at the side that look like side buttons but are actually just for sensitivity.

The mouse is very sleek to look at and is comfortable to rest your hand on for a long period of time if you are using the computer for a while. I found this mouse very easy to install, there was no disc required, it was literally just a case of inserting the USB cable into the port and letting the drivers install automatically. Once they have installed the mouse should be ready to use right away and it really is as simple as that.

The mouse came in a box with instructions with information on what computer settings you need and that was it. I do think this mouse is best used with a mouse mat as it just moves a lot quicker and gives it the best performance possible. To use this mouse is very sensitive and so you don't need to click too hard but you hear the clicking noise quite loud which can get a bit annoying after a while but you'll become oblivious to it.

I have found so far that I have no problems using this, the connection is always very good with it and I never witness any delays. It moves fast and has a scroll button in the middle for when you want to scroll up and down pages you are using and it works very easily as well. I like that the design is very smooth on this also so you don't have any colour wearing away at the top from too much usage and I have used this quite a while now.

I would recommend this to those with laptops who maybe get fed up of using the touch pad and want to actually have a mouse at times for doing more detailed work. This is a great model and with having no problems, it really is good quality and very easy to use. The design is very modern and sleek and I couldn't be happier with my purchase, I will be using this for a while yet.

I purchased my Logitech mouse from Amazon and it depends on the colour you want it in as it comes in blue, cinnamon, orange, white, yellow and berry which I have. The mouse cost me £12.99 with free delivery which really isn't too expensive.

If you go to http://www.logitech.com the official website and search 'LS1' then you will get a more detailed page on this model.
