a great mouse, but it's shape/size is personal taste

a new mouse is always a weird feeling, after the malfunction of an aging mx revolution I looked to find a suitable replacement. this one fit the bill nicely and even looks quite similar, although isn't as nice looking or as comfortable.

I attributed the lack of comfort to just needing to get used to the mouse, but after a few days of use i'm still thinking the shape just isn't right for my hands.

it's a very well made mouse, similar to my old mx revolutiuon which lasted about 4 years of daily use!
The only slightly annoying thing is that it takes 2 AA batteries instead of a rechargeable, which means my desk is a little clearer but I have to buy batteries now- but the battery life is great

the mouse has the standard left, right, middle click and scroll wheel, as well as left/right scroll, 2 buttons on the side of the mouse, and a switch to change between 'free wheel' and 'clicked' wheel modes, personally I much prefer 'clicked' but it's nice to switch to free wheel to scroll through a whole document with ease.

overall it's a little small, but a very high quality mouse
mice are very personal things, so try one out if you can before purchase

A Marathon of a mousing experience.

I have owned Logitech mice in the past and when I saw the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 on sale for £28 in my local computer shop I decided to give it a go. I have seen them online for around £35, so I knew I were getting it at a good price. I were looking for a new mouse as although the Logitech M235 is working strong on my laptop, I needed a new mouse for my new Home PC.

The packaging is quite simple, coming in a green box. The mouse comes complete with two batteries, instruction guide, USB Connector and CD-ROM installation. The mouse carries a 3 year warranty which gives me the reassurance that this is built to last. The mouse also carries the bold claim that the batteries will last up to three years, something I find hard to believe but I am willing to give it a go.

The mouse is ergonomically designed to fit into the palm of your hand and is very comfortable to hold and control. The design is quite stylish with its sweeping lines and the jet black colour finishes it off well. The Logitech logo is present on the top of the mouse and to the base of the mouse is the laser sensor. This sensor tracks the movement of the mouse and controls your cursor on-screen. To the base is also the On/Off power button, along with a 'reset' button. The mouse has a scroll wheel on the top which is controlled by my index finger. There are also the left and right click buttons. These are all fairly standard features, though the two additional buttons for scrolling the internet positioned on the side of the mouse are a bonus.

The CD-ROM is included to allow you to install the mouse correctly to your specific model of computer. The installation was easy to follow and left me with just one more task. This was inserting the USB connector whcih is what reads the movements of the mouse. The batteries must also be inserted into the mouse, then you are ready to click away!

The three year warranty is something i found impressive, as a lot of companies offer shorter warranties, suggesting Logitech really do care about quality of their products. The mouse has proved to be very easy to control and it glides effortlessly across my mousemat. I think I got a bit of a bargain by paying just £28 for it and even at £35 it isn't expensive. If you are looking for a basic and inexpensive mouse then this won't be for you, but if you are a heavy user then this may be the smart choice.

Slick, good weight and amazing battery life.

I joined my current company in Jan 2011 and the setup I was allocated included the M705. I have never had a good experience in the past with wireless mice as I found they were not accurate and the battery life was poor.

I must admit though that the m705 has changed my opinion and I am tempted to purchase one to use at home.

Firstly the look of the mouse looks modern, slim and attractive.

The design of the mouse first in my hand very nicely, and even when using it for 10+ hours does my wrist etc... get sore.

The weight of the mouse is perfect for my own preference as it is light, but not soo light you would forget it was there.

The best thing about this mouse though is that I have used it for over 6 months, 5 days a week for 8 hours a day (or more). Occasionally I shall remember to switch it off, but generally I forget, and the originally batteries are STILL going.

        Advantages

        • Reliability

        Disadvantages

Reliable, high-quality mouse with customisable functions and an extra-long battery life.

        Introduction:

With my last Logitech mouse starting to look a little dated and aged, I went-a-searching for a new replacement. Having used nothing but Logitech throughout my computer using years, and having had zero problems with any of them, I decided to look at the Logitech range for my replacement.

Logitech really do have a mouse for every type of user. From the high-tech, button-laden gaming mice (very expensive) to the lowly, but sleek, standard two button mice (very cheap), you're bound to find one that suits you.

The Logitech Marathon M705 mouse sits somewhere in the middle both in terms of features and price (£34.99 (inc. delivery) from Currys online). While it doesn't have the 'MX' branding that features on some of Logitech's high-spec mice, it has many of their features and could quite easily fit into that particular range.

        General Usage:

Having used it for around a week now, I have to say that I am very impressed with this mouse. It feels solid, yet lightweight and seems to slide around the desk effortlessly.

The feel of the mouse is good and it fits comfortably into my average sized hand. Button placement is reasonably good, although the the two buttons on the side of the mouse (I use them for the 'back and 'forward' functions on my web browser) are maybe a little bit too far back for my liking. The 'hidden' third button underneath the side grip of the mouse is useful and with Logitech SetPoint software, you can customise the button's function. Very handy if there's a task that you constantly repeat.

I have mixed feelings about the scroll wheel in the middle. I find the hyper-scroll function extremely useful and have been using it endlessly since I started using the mouse. However, the wheel itself seems a little on the wobbly side when using the hyper-scroll. I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing defect on my particular mouse, or if it's common to all Marathon mouse but it's an area where the otherwise outstanding build quality is let down slightly. It's nothing major and doesn't really cause too much distraction; it's just an area where Logitech could improve upon.

The mouse itself is very smooth and sleek. The gunmetal/charcoal metallic look blends in with all the modern black IT equipment that I have at my desk and makes a perfect match for my Logitech keyboard. The silver metallic appearance of the scroll wheel is aesthetically pleasing and the general shape an curvature of the mouse makes it look modern.

The mouse is supplied with a Logitech 'unifying receiver'. While this may sound insignificant - it is actually quite a good addition. This means that any future Logitech USB wireless products (such as wireless keyboards) will be able to connect through the same USB receiver that you use for the Marathon. I don't know about you, but I often find my computer's USB ports are being taken up needlessly by wireless receivers. A single USB-wireless receiver which connects to all your Logitech devices will come in very handy and free up some much-needed ports.

Another feature overlooked in most reviews for this mouse is the extended battery life. Logitech claim 3 years - so it'll be interesting to see if it lives up to the claim! I'd like to guess that it will - they didn't call it 'Marathon' for nothing!

Although this mouse won't win prizes for innovation or unique features, it does serve as an excellent, solid, trustworthy and affordable mouse. It feels even sturdier than my previous Logitech mouse and has impressed since I started using it. Don't be too put-off by anything negative I've said here - overall, this is a top-quality product, but there is always room for improvement.

        Conclusion:

If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality mouse with customisable functions and an extra-long battery life, then this is the perfect mouse for you!

          Disadvantages

Very easy and good mouse to use

          Logitech Marathon Mouse M705

          ------------------------------------------------------------
          Introduction
          ------------------------------------------------------------

I use a wireless mouse with my laptop because I never like the hassle of a lot wires around me. The wireless mouse is also a good option for me, because I have never have my the laptop on one location. Why this mouse? Well mostly because I said it's an energy efficient wireless mouse and I hate it when batteries run out quickly.

          ------------------------------------------------------------
What do you get with the box?
          ------------------------------------------------------------

The mouse comes in a green box and everything is wrapped up nicely and is easy to take out. Nothing is damages and scratched. You get the following:

          - The mouse
          - 2 batteries
          - USB connection
          - CD ROM installation
          - Guide
          - 3 years warranty

          ------------------------------------------------------------
          The mouse
          ------------------------------------------------------------

The mouse is about 7cm long and 3cm wide and comes in the colour of black. The shape of the mouse is very ergonomic with notches to get a good grip and it really lays good in your hand. Nice and smooth with indentations on the side. At the top is the Logitech logo which you can also find at the bottom on the mouse and here you also have the laser sensor. The sensor tracks your movement of your hand. Also on the bottom of the mouse you find the switch to turn the mouse on or off and even reset option. At the top of the front is the scroll wheel and the left and right button for clicking. On the side are two more buttons for the internet where you can quickly forward and backward trough your internet.

So since this is a wireless mouse you don't have any wires and with the USB stick that comes with the mouse you have your connection. The USB stick isn't even that big and smaller than a normal USB stick. So you hardly notice it when you have it in your laptop. Very easy!

          ------------------------------------------------------------
          The use of the mouse
          ------------------------------------------------------------

Before you use the mouse you need to install the mouse on your laptop. You have a CDROM installation disk with the mouse and you simply put this CDROM in your laptop. Then you connect the mouse with the USB stick trough your laptop and my laptop recognises the mouse automatically and started looking for the software. All of this is done in like 2 minutes and then the mouse is ready to be used. With the mouse you get 2 AA batteries which are easily placed into the mouse. The manual says they can last up to three years, but I found that hard to believe.

          ------------------------------------------------------------
          Warranty
          ------------------------------------------------------------

Logitech provides a warranty of 3 years. In the supplied manual and little book about the warranty you can read all about the conditions.

          ------------------------------------------------------------
          Conclusion
          ------------------------------------------------------------

Well, what can you say about a mouse. Having a wireless mouse really works for me and it's so easy now to carry the laptop with me and the mouse too because it's so small and you don't have all these wires to think about. The mouse really responds well to the movement of my hand and you can always adjust the setting on the computer. Maybe a negative about the mouse is that you can easily loose him but that's all really.
