I bought this mouse after eventually losing my temper with my Apple Mighty Mouse. The Mighty Mouse scroll wheel had a horrible habit of getting stuck and, in a misguided attempt to unstick it, I threw it on the floor. I'll save that story for another review maybe.
When I looked around, I couldn't find many options for mice compatible with mac, so this gets instant points for that alone. On getting it home and trying it out, it is a lot more robust and comfortable than the Mighty Mouse and has a nice selection of buttons that are nice and easily accessible. A particular highlight is the scroll wheel. It can either be used in a sort of locked, 'clicky' mode, where it makes satisfying clicks as you scroll, and stops you from over scrolling the area of the page you want, OR you can use it in its 'spinny' mode, where you can spin the scroll wheel with your finger and whizz up and down pages in a fun, satisfying, and utterly pointless way! You can also tilt the scroll wheel left and right to scroll horizontally which is a nice feature. As I said, I much prefer the clicky mode, but the great thing about the mouse is that it allows you to customise the settings to the way you use it and the attention paid to how the mouse feels and responds is reassuring.
The Logitech software that comes with the mouse allows you to assign the additional buttons to various functions. The software isn't necessarily required however, although it would be a shame to let all the hotkey options go to waste. I haven't used the mouse all that much for gaming, but when I have it has done a pretty good job. Again, the customisation options are pretty useful here.
My only problem with the mouse has been that one of the buttons was a bit sticky for a while, although this seems to have sorted itself out. I have had the mouse for about 3 years and dropped it on a hard wooden floor on numerous, overexcited occasions, so by all rights, it should be faring a lot worse!
This mouse truly is the best I have ever owned. After becoming infuriated with Apple's Mighty Mouse that shipped with my iMac, I will never go back to using it again.
The mouse feels and looks incredibly, mainly because it has been made from high quality materials. It works well on almost any surface, (even glass), and visually improves the look of your desk or workspace.
This mouse has yet to fail me, with an annual swap of 2 x AA batteries, it is incredibly low maintenance. A small indicator alerts you as to when the batteries need changing, or you can look at the software supplied which will tell you how much longer your batteries will last.
The feel of the mouse in your hand is very comfortable, and feels very natural, however, if your are left handed, the mouse won't be unusable, but it won't be as comfortable. All of the buttons are positioned for use with your right hand, but they are very well placed if you are right handed. The scroll wheel is very good, and has 2 settings. One of which give it the traditional click roll, and the second setting allows the scroll wheel to scroll freely with little resistance.
The side buttons can be assigned to perform many different functions through the Logitech software, however, the top button can be slightly annoying at times as it can easily be accidentally clicked.
The mouse is perfect for most uses, for gaming, the tracking speed can be increased, as well as pointer acceleration.
Overall, this is a superior mouse, and although the initial price may be steep you will find it hard to find a better product that will last as long.
I bought this mouse at Christmas for £25 from Currys Digital. I was originally thinking about getting a laptop mouse which would have been considerably smaller. However I'm glad I didn't. The MX620 is of a perfect size.
The ergonomics of this mouse are great and it fits your hand perfectly, although it's clearly not compatible with left handed people.
The mouse uses laser tracking technology as opposed to a ball or standard optical technology. This supposedly improves precision. I didn't notice a massive change from my old mouse, however it is very precise and accurate.
Another reason I bought this mouse was because of the scroll wheel. On the bottom of the mouse is a switch which enables you to choose between click scroll and free scroll. In free scroll mode there is very little reistance so if you give it a hard flick, it will spin for up to 7 seconds, scrolling though hundreds of pages; perfect for large documents.
The forward and back buttons and also the search buttons are great and work in both Google Chrome and IE. However they can also be customised for use in specific applications which is great for playing games.
I bought this mouse from Amazon for only £27 and so far I have been really impressed with it. I bought it originally as an addition to my macbook pro and its worked great with it.
In terms of ergonomics, the mouse really does fit so well into the hand and it is a real pleasure to use. The arch of the mouse I found mirrors perfectly the natural arch of my hand and gave it a lot of support. The ergonomics of the mouse was the main reason in which I bought it.
In terms of design and aesthetics, I found that the mouse looked great on a desk and has a really sleek style which is the perfect match for my computer.
The mouse also comes packed with a variety of features such as the 'hyper speed' scroller which I found really useful when web browsing and looking at documents.
In terms of battery life I have found the mouse to be great as it claims to have a year's worth of battery life from two AA batteries which is great! It also has a battery indicator which I have found useful because I know when I need to go and prepare to fit some more batteries.
The mouse also has a well located search button and two others left and right buttons which are programmable to your choice. I found these buttons quite useful and they helped to make actions that bit quicker.
One other superb feature about this mouse is that it is a wireless mouse with a relatively small reciever. The wireless range of the mouse is both large and accurate. I found that it really is great to be able to use the mouse without the wires!
Overall, I think that this is a great laser mouse and it really has delivered everything that it said on the tin. For me the main selling point is the comfort and 'hyper fast' scroller which give it an edge over the previous mouses I have had.
I bought this mouse for £27. I had been using a corded cheap mouse for quite some time and my main intention was to clean up my desk by removing the mouses cord. Plus it was optical so laser was an upgrade.
The mouse its self is a great design. The shape is ergonomic and even after using it for a long time I have no aches or pains. The mouse has rubber up the thumb side so help you grip. It has plenty of buttons so you can do lots of stuff without having to click on screen. The scroll wheel has two settings which is handy, free setting where it spins contiuously (perfect for large documents) or click where it clicks as in most mice. The mouse also has a nice wieght which is mostly provided by the batteries inside.
It is easy to set up and works fine without installing the provided software. However I have one gripe with it. When you dont move the mouse for a little while it must disconnect from the reciver dongle. This means when you move the mouse again the pointer is sluggish for the first maybe half a second. This gets very annoying in games. The problem can be helped by not using the dongle with usb extension cables but it is not perfect.
In conclusion for general web browsing the mouse is fine but for gaming you may want a corded mouse.
