Advantages: High precision laser mouse, stylish, comfortablle, ergonomic, powerful, 5yr guarantee
Disadvantages: Not for Lefties, Software could have been better designed
My problem was that I was forever spending a pound here and a pound there getting on cheap batteries for my previous cordless mouse. Then I bought rechargeable batteries because of course they would make more sense.
However I also ended up with draining the batteries as I just couldn't stop working (I'm good like that) and then I'd have to charge up batteries and wait.
So fed up of constant searching for batteries from remote controls around the house, I decided to invest in a better mouse and after reading reviews this came out on top and it's the best decision I've ever made - except when I invested in Icelandic banks.
I purchased mine for £50 which is expensive for a mouse but the elegance and powerful capabilities of the mouse made it worthwhile.
Wonderfully packed it consists of the mouse, a charger stand and a bluetooth USB dongle which you put into a spare USB port in the computer.
***Hardware, Handling and ergonomics***
This is where Logitech supersedes all others. You'll be amazed at how comfortable the mouse is as it slides into your hands like warm cotton gloves (not those sweaty cold ones you had as a child). Altogether there are 5 physical buttons which expand to 9 actions. All are easily accessible without causing your fingers to seek revenge against you. There's also an on\off button under the mouse that you can use to conserve power. I should also add I've dropped this mouse so many times and it's hard as nails.
Don't forget this is a laser mouse so it's more accurate than an optical mouse which may be useful to architects, artists and snipers across the world.
***Software****
Although the mouse will work without the software albeit in a basic form, it does excel overall with the Logitech Setpoint software. This powerful program comes with default settings for many applications but allows you to configure the buttons to your hearts content and even specify how each button interacts in each particular application.
For example, the button below the mouse wheel was setup by Logitech as a search button, not very helpful in my view so I changed it to act as a double-click button. The mouse wheel is a delight to use but you'll probably want to configure for your own personal taste, so here, I set it up so pushing the wheel left to goes Back a page and pushing it right goes Forward a page in web browsers.
I found with an XP PC that for some reason in Firefox it doesn't register the command I setup and ends up wishing to save the page rather than go back and forwards! It was honestly annoying and no matter of tweaking resolved the problem but I've since moved on to Vista and have bigger fish to fry.
***Charge Stand & Battery Life***
I was so icnredibly impressed with the battery life of this mouse. As someone who is on the computer for 13+ hours a day, I can easily go well over 2 weeks without a charge. Some batteries didn't even last me a week.
When battery life is low, you are reminded with a friendly message on your computer and you've also got the battery status meter on your mouse so there's no excuses for not charging... unless your me.
I do sometimes forget and even when the first message comes up telling you battery life is low, you can easily go a few days out of it and when it does go low, I kid you not 10 minutes of charging is enough to get a day or so more out of it! How great is that!
Logitech report it doesn't matter how often or for how long you charge the mouse, I also haven't noticed any problems with the infrequency of charging.
***5 Year Guarantee!***
As icing on the cake, this mouse like many other Logitech products comes with a 5 year guarantee! The mouse itself is hard as nail but if something goes wrong, there's a guarantee to fall back on.
***Conclusion***
Overall, I'm extremely delighted with this purchase and would never go back to a cheap corded or cordless mouse.
Anyone else whose looking for comfort, usability and convenience will appreciate this mouse.
