Basic function mouse that does things perfectly

A mouse is a mouse is a mouse, right? I mean, in terms of computer accessories, it's pretty standard to have a mouse, and generally it doesn't matter which mouse it is, right? Well, that's what I thought when I didn't use one a whole bunch. My laptop has a pretty good mousepad on it, so I didn't really feel the need for an external mouse. However, when I started using this Logitech RX250, I soon realised how useful it could be.

I soon learnt that there are a lot of different functions a mouse can have, and there are some that can even incorporate many keyboard functions, for navigational purposes. This one doesn't, and is essentially a basic mouse, with the functions of left click, right click, and the clickable scroll wheel. I am happy with these functions and find that the response time and accuracy this mouse gives me is good enough that I'm not fussed about looking elsewhere for another one.

As I use it, it fits comfortably into my hand, allowing my thumb on one side and the majority of my fingers on the other. As there are no buttons on the sides, I don't have to worry about pressure from these areas, and the left and right click buttons are just on the top. Mice that have the buttons which curl around the front and the sides often annoy me as I find myself accidentally clicking when I didn't need to. I have fat finger syndrome, so this mouse's simplicity in terms of button placement really helps.

Aside from the snug fit, the buttons are very soft pushes. Just a gentle click will be enough to perform the functions on either button, although there is a slight amount of movement to allow for your fingers resting on them without clicking. They seem to be well designed, and haven't weakened in the time I have had it.

The scroll wheel is also very good. I find scroll wheels can be over sensitive, and when you try and move a small amount down through the page, you find yourself whizzing through. This is great if you need to churn through dozens of pages at a time, but when you want to go slowly, it's a pain. With this Logitech mouse, scrolling is nice and controlled, with one position movement taking you down through the page bit by bit. Depressing the scroll button allows for mouse movement scrolling, and this way, you can move the mouse and it takes you down steadily through the page. Move it once, just a little bit, and it'll start slowly moving. The further you move the mouse, the quicker the page will go.

Which brings me on to the accuracy of the optical element of the mouse. The optical sensor on the bottom of the mouse is very good. I notice that, if I am using the internal mousepad and I accidentally touch the external mouse with my elbow or something, even if it's just a bit, then the mouse indicator will move on the screen. This sensitivity doesn't provide any issues, as you may think. What it does is it means I can rely on being able to move it just a little bit each time, without fear of it flying round the page and frustrating me by moving too much. The sensitivity relates more to whether it realises you're trying to move it rather than how fast the ratio is between movement with the mouse in your hand and movement of the mouse indicator on the screen. This one has a nice balance, and you can use pinpoint control. Other mice have far too much movement for the distance you have moved your hand.

Overall, then, a really snug mouse with solid, basic controls. Sure, it doesn't sing and dance like some of the other ones with other integrated controls do (not literally, of course!) but what is does do is perform the primary functions of a mouse very well indeed and with careful control and precision. For this reason, I highly recommend it and would say it's the best basic mouse I have used to date.

        good all round mouse

        Logitech Optical Mouse RX250

Logitech are quite well known for making mainly gaming devices to go into various platforms as well as making keyboards, speakers and mouse's for pc's and laptops.
They do specialize a little in gaming mouse's for laptops however this mouse could really just be used for anything.
Because this mouse is a cool white colour, it doesn't only look modern but it could also go very well with a mac computer if you have one as it would be a lot cheaper and id say better then a mac mouse is. If you don't however this still goes into your laptop and your computer with no trouble and looks pretty cool too.

The mouse feels smooth to the touch and it also quite small and fits perfectly into the palm of your hand. Its east to move around and it very precise too.
Its an optical mouse which I thinks important these days as it never sticks or looses track of where its meant to be like those old ball mouse's did.
It has three buttons, the left the right and a tilted scroll wheel that can be pressed in. this is great and I never buy a mouse anymore if it doesn't have one of these, altogether it looks like a very neat modern mouse.

Installation couldn't be easier, you literally take the mouse out of its box, plug the usb end into a usb port in your laptop, pc or mac and it will find and automatically install you mouse as a new drive within seconds and you'll be able to use your mouse from then on.
