The contacts (under the ball) get quite dirty quite often, but they are easily cleaned, just by wiping the crud off every few weeks/months. When I first purchased this mouse, to replace my original, standard 2-button mouse, I was hoping for a fantastic, revolutionary replacement. I don't think I have been let down. When I first got hold of it, and set it up, useage was slow and difficult to say the least. This mouse definately needs to getting used to!
