      I highly recommend this

Review of Logitech TrackMan® Marble® trackball mouse.

      **The Product**

      ~~Why I bought it!~~

I have long been a fan of the Trackball style of mouse as opposed to the tradition type. When I used mainly my PC computer, I always used a trackball as a matter of course and had a Logitech version.

When the touch pad and left click button on my laptop started to show signs of wear, around four months ago, I decided to return to a trackball, rather than go to the trouble and expense of having my 3 year old laptop repaired or replacing it.

Logitech was the first brand of trackball I researched, as I was familiar with the company and their products. I bought their TrackMan Marble model from Amazon for around £22, there are probably cheaper deals around, but I had some Amazon e-vouchers to use, hence my decision to buy from them! Amazon were also offering free P&P on Logitech Trackballs, so this too had a bearing on my choice!

      ~~The TrackMan® Marble®~~

The trackball is designed for either left or right handed users, the trackball, or 'marble', is situated in the centre of the compact unit and this is used for navigating and controlling your on screen cursor. Large left and right 'click' buttons are conveniently sited either side of the marble. If you click the large buttons together, you can then use the ball for auto-scrolling. I do find this a useful feature when surfing.

Construction is sturdy and solid and the trackball does not slide around as you use it. I personally find less stress on the hand and wrist when using a trackball as opposed to a mouse. Another plus is that you do not need a mouse mat or even a table, to use a trackball, I often have my laptop on the coffee table and the TrackMan on my knee.

The colour is pretty uninspiring, the main body of the unit is grey and the 'marble' is red with a greyish fleck.
The construction is basically a plastic material, I find that it does not get tacky or hot when in use and stays relatively cool to the touch, even after several hours usage.

==**What's In The Box, System Requirements and Set Up.**==

The Trackball comes very simply packaged in a blister pack which contains:-
      Logitech TrackMan® Marble®
Logitech® software CD for Mac and PC
      USB-to-PS/2 adapter
      Quick-start guide

Now I am no techie, so I'm afraid anything I use with my laptop has to be simple to set up! The Trackball is a corded version, I chose this for reasons of economy, as it was cheaper than the wireless model!

The TrackMan Marble is designed to use with Windows® XP or Windows Vista®, with Mac operating systems (Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later) and with Playstation®2.

A USB port is required to operate the Trackball and for my laptop, it was simply a question of plugging in and using. Logitech do provide a CD-ROM for systems that require more advanced set up.

The quick start guide is very basic and covers the general process of plugging the trackball into the USB port and instructions on running the CD-ROM. There are telephone and email support contacts listed within the guide, should users have difficulty, but if I can do it, anyone can!

Logitech provide the TrackMan Marble with a 3 year Manufacturer Warranty.

      ==**My Thoughts and Conclusion**==

I appreciate that my review is probably not most technical review you are likely to read on this product, but as explained I am no 'Techie'!

Personally, I find Trackballs much more comfortable to use than a traditional mouse and the TrackMan Marble is by far the most comfortable I have ever come across. I actually dug out my previous trackball for the purpose of comparison for this review and have to admit that Logitech have produced a remarkable gadget in the TrackMan Marble, it is even better than my original trackball.

It fits my medium sized hand perfectly and I find it supremely comfortable in use. My partner has much larger hands than me and he too found it was just as suitable for his hand.

When using a trackball there is less wrist strain and I find a trackball allows me to control the cursor far more easily. I have been using this trackball daily for the past four months and it is showing absolutely no signs of wear and tear, which I find remarkable given the amount of use I have given it.

I appreciate that these are considerably more expensive than a traditional mouse, but for the comfort and ease of use that I experience when using a trackball, I feel it is a small price to pay.

As mentioned, there are bound to be better deals on the internet, so it is certainly worth searching around if you are interested in purchasing a TrackMan Marble.

I would recommend the Logitech TrackMan Marble to others and am awarding it a 5*rating.

      Thank you for reading
