... respects the main one being the size of the dongle that plugs into your PC's USB port. Previously this used to stick out 50mm and always had the postential to get damaged. The new versions dongle sticks out 5mm if that and therefore the chances of damage are considerably reduced.
They have also improved the materials especially on the sides. The previous version discolours and degrades over time due to natural perspiration. The new sides seem to be harder wearing.

I have owned 3 microsoft wireless mice. The first 2 were the 3000 mark 1 and I have just purchsed the new 3000 mark 2. I had one at home and another at work which went missing. The replacement is for work and I just couldn't function without it. The product in question is the same size and shape as the previous version. They are quite small barely longer than 2 fingers so your palm does not sit on top of the mouse which I found more comfortable. The new version is better in a number of respects the main one being the size of the dongle that plugs into your PC's USB port.
