Improvements on an already good product

I have owned 3 microsoft wireless mice. The first 2 were the 3000 mark 1 and I have just purchsed the new 3000 mark 2. I had one at home and another at work which went missing. The replacement is for work and I just couldn't function without it.
The product in question is the same size and shape as the previous version. They are quite small barely longer than 2 fingers so your palm does not sit on top of the mouse which I found more comfortable.
The new version is better in a number of respects the main one being the size of the dongle that plugs into your PC's USB port. Previously this used to stick out 50mm and always had the postential to get damaged. The new versions dongle sticks out 5mm if that and therefore the chances of damage are considerably reduced.
They have also improved the materials especially on the sides. The previous version discolours and degrades over time due to natural perspiration. The new sides seem to be harder wearing.
The mouse takes 1 AA battery as the previous version. This time now fitted underneath where as previously you had to take the top off. The stops the battery springing out if it is dropped.
When not in ue the dongle snuggly fits into the same compartment as the battery so you won't lose the dongle. It also has an on/off switch on the bottom.
The battery lasts for months. I never turn my mouse off which is probably a waste but the long life of the battery doesn't really call (I use a duracell battery). If you turned it off you'd probably get a years use out of one battery.
It feels well made. The plasticv is high quality and the buttons have a reassuring click to them. The wheel feels as though it has defined increments unlike some that spin uncontrollably.
      Highly recommended
