Advantages: cheap, good reliability
Disadvantages: lacks features
The Microsoft mouse is a bog standard 2-button mouse that’s ships with most Dell & other good manufactured PC systems. When these mice first came out they were around the £40 mark now they are around £12 FITS LIKE A GLOVE The Microsoft basic mouse is ergonomically designed to fit nicely in your hand and reduce the pressure and discomfort for long usage. I find that as the plastic is non-shiny and of a dull matt finish makes it more comfortable to use and feels less sweaty in my hand. BUTTON BASHING I have to say that I can get a little heavy handed especially when playing quake and that mouse button gets more fingering every day than any woman I have been with. I have had lots of Microsoft basic mice and the robustness of the button trigger mechanism on this make is I have to say very very good. In 5 years I have never had a malfunction with a click or a right mouse click on the various Microsoft mice I have had unlike most of my joysticks which I break in all of 5 minutes. OPTICAL ENVY Using the mouse all day at work I find the control and accuracy of the mouse cursor tends to degrade and degrade with time. In the end I have to twist the roller ball cover off and take the ball out so I can scrape the dirt and grime that has built up with the rollers. This is something you should not get with a optical mouse as there are no moving parts, you would of thought they would be cheaper than old fashioned mechanical mice like this one. MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS At work all day long I move the mouse all over the shop and there is nothing more annoying when the cord is weighing you down and you have to pull it up through the desk gap so you can use it properly. I hate it when I have to do that, and its such a pain when I move my computer to do a demonstration and have unplug the cord, unplug the keyboard. If only Dell supplied cordless peripherals as standard. SOME B%%ARD STOLE ME
WHEELS I have to say I wish I had a wheel on the mouse, everyone else has one and I feel left out on this older model. I am sure the wheel would be useful on this large screen, especially coding as I have lines and lines and lines of code to trawl through. Having to go to the scroll bar all the time and back half way across my 19-inch screen in high-resolution mode its just more effort than my lazy arse can be obliged with. WHICH HOLE CAN I SLOT MY THING IN My basic mouse was a PS/2 mouse port compatible mouse, this requires no drivers and should work as standard on most up to date Microsoft Windows Systems. Even my mum would be able to get this little baby up and running, mmm saying that I do not think she would be able to plug it in. Oh yes she would, as this mouse complies with the latest PC standards and comes fitted with a colour-coded plug that even someone of complete PC illiterate incompetence can actually slot it in the right hole. I do not understand how most mothers can not use a computer, they can read the manual and program the washing machine which I can never figure out yet they can not use something more simpler like a computer.
