Advantages: No cleaning your balls anymore. Faster. More reliable. PS2 or USB

Disadvantages: Pricey at the moment, but prices are falling

The Intellimouse Explorer is just about the best mouse that I have used yet, & I've tried a lot of mice in the last few years!

In the past I've tried logitech mice, trackballs & some others but none have compared to the Intellimouse Explorer for features & comfort. The option of making the mouse into a PS2 mouse instead of USB is very handy, espeacially if you only have 2 USB ports & already have them used up. I use mine as PS2 because I'm too tight to get a USB hub at the moment.

Anyway, besides the USB/PS2 debate you have a mouse with no balls, which means that there's less chance of your mouse failing to do as it's told when you really don't need it too.

It has 4 buttons that are quite handily & comfortably positioned & a wheel that also acts as a buton. All are configurable via the software - Intellipoint. The software & mouse are very easy to configure, when you click a button it flashes in the Intellipoint program. You then choose the task for that button & off you go happy as Larry. The wheel can be configured via the Intellipoint program. You can set how many lines to scroll at a time.

I like the option of setting the orientation of the mouse as I don't hold the mouse in a straight line towards the back of my desk, more like diagonally to be honest as I face my desk at an angle. This is far more comfortable for me& I get less wrist strain.

You get the choice of what mouse pointerrs that you want to use & overall the mouse itself is very, very good. It moves very nicely. You don't need a mousemat as the mouse will work on just about any surface going & it will work well.

With this type of mouse you can say goodbye to using rolls of sellotape & boxes of cottonbuds as they will be redundant. You may as well clean your ears with the leftover cottonbuds & stick something with the tape!

The only sticking point is the price of optical mice as they are quite new & t
herefore more pricey than normal mice. The price has started falling now & before too long they will be well priced & very affordable.

So what are you using that ball mouse for?
