Advantages: Silky smooth movement

Disadvantages: none

As soon as I started moving the new mouse around on my desk, I knew I had made a good purchase. Silky - and we're talking silky smooth movement. I immediately started thinking "Hey, I've got something really cool to review here!" I played around with the speed settings to get the proper feel. I was able to have the mouse set slightly more sensitive (faster) because of the increased resolution in my movements. With other mice, I need it set a bit slower to make up for the lack of precision. The mouse works well on any surface I've tried it on: Fabric mousepad, plastic mousepad, wood desk, human arm, empty milk jug, papers, envelopes, dusty checkbook, wall, etc. It never ever glitches like ball mice sometimes do. The only surface I've found it to be unreliable on is an acrylic CD jewlbox. The literature mentions shiny surfaces like glass or glossy paper to be unreliable and this confirms it.
Naturally, I had to fire up the latest Quake 3 demo to see how this mouse performs under fire. I was not disappointed. My aim was more natural and controlled, and I'm sure that accounted for more frags per round. I then tried the mouse over internet games, thee mouse's easier movement makes it ideal and i found my gaming vastly improved.

I went ahead and tried the mouse using the ps2 adapter as well. Still quite smooth, accurate movement, but not at all as silky as in USB mode. Its interesting that the movement updates you see on your screen are tied directly to the sampling rate of the interface. In other words, in ps2 mode I can see the "jumps" the cursor makes when I move it quickly across the screen. But in USB mode the movement is much more continuous. You really have to try it for yourself.
