Advantages: Makes lessons more exciting as pupils get more involved

Disadvantages: Can be affected by a poor projector or the computer's running speed

What does the board do?
Activboard is like a giant touchscreen that you can use as a teaching tool. It comes with the program Activstudio which you can use to write on the screen like a normal whiteboard. However, anything you write can be saved and used again, or you can prepare resources in advance. Activstudio has many tools including handwriting recognition, shape drawer, transformations, backgrounds, images, stopwatch and a capture tool.

Why is it good?
It's great to get pupils involved more in the lesson because they can come up and move, write, highlight or annotate things. It also makes preparation easier and faster and you can share resources easily with other teachers.

What disadvantages does it have?
If your projector is not of a high quality, the image can be blurry. You may also need to think about positioning it out of direct sunlight in order to see the image.

Having taught with an Activboard, I now can't imagine trying to teach without one!
