The product is advertised as slimline and it really is. It's only a couple of millimetres in thickness which is astonishing for such a cheap tablet.
Trust is a budget brand of computing hardware however there doesn't appear to be anything cheap about this tablet.
To set up the tablet I merely had to install the drivers via CD and connect the tablet via USB and it worked immediately. Making setup extremely convenient.
I first tried the tablet in the included "ArtWeaver" art program which had multiple brushes to make the experience realistic. It wasn't until this point that I realised that the tablet was pressure sensitive! i.e. press lightly and the lines are faint, press hard and the lines are heavy!
A great additional feature which makes this tablet a great buy!
It takes a while to actually use the tablet as you must look at the screen at all times and it can be difficult if you take a break and come back as you lose the sense of where each point of your image is in relation to the tablet. But give it long enough and you will be painting like a pro without all the mess!
There are rubber feet to prevent it from slipping on your desk which I am so grateful for, if these weren't there I would be forever picking this tablet off of the ground.
My main complains about this tablet is actually not to do with the tablet, it is to do with the pen. There are two buttons on the pen for left and right-click, however it is so easy to accidentally knock these and have a context menu appear during your art work which makes your nice smooth line go jagged as you have to pick up where you left off after closing the damn menu!
I am not the greatest at drawing and have never been very good freehand, but when I saw this trust TB-5300 slimline design tablet at under £20 inc. postage I thought I would give it a try. The tablet can be used with many different programmes and is very easy to install.
The tablet is very easy to install and i were surprised as to how light and slimline it actually is. After a quick and easy installation process I was soon teaching it to recognise my handwriting and drawing pictures and using the various tools of the design programmes with ease using the stylus. The stylus, or digital pen, is very comfortable to use and the pad itself is responsive to the actions and strokes I take with the pen.
There are hot-keys around the writing surface which are very useful for navigating around my computer without the need for my mouse. I also find that it doesn't slow my system down at all, which I was surprised with. I can't think of any real faults with this tablet, and for a price of less than £20 delivered I think it is excellent value compared to most other tablets of this quality. The pen runs on a single AAA battery. If you intend using this frequently then it may pay to use a rechargable battery, but I have had this a while now and am still on the first battery so I am happy to stick with the ordinary batteries.
Where this tablet exceeds expectations is with photo editing. I find this tablet is very useful for helping with accuracy when eiditng pictures and the digital pen is also much more accurate than using the mouse. The sleek black colour of this tablet and digital pen is very professional and smart and you wouldnt be able to tell this cost so little.
