Now that I am working from home I spend a lot of time using my work laptop and although I am quite happy doing that I do tend to prefer a mouse to a touch pad. Of course it is quite simple to plug in any mouse and work with that however I thought a wireless mouse would be easiest so I looked around to see what I could find on the market. A colleague had a little Trust mouse and liked it so I had a look around their range.

The Trust Wireless Optical Mini Mouse MI-4930Rp seemed to fit the bill very well as I prefer optical and I loved the fact that it had a very small UBS receiver so it was a very neat package. I found one on Amazon for just £9.40 plus postage so I placed my order and waited for it to arrive.

Well for a start getting it out of the package was somewhat tricky. I am quite sure that putting the product in plastic packaging and welding it shut does help to prevent shoplifting when it is on shelves in stores as does making the package quite large in comparison to the product but it also makes it very tricky to open when you get it home! After attacking it with a pair of sharp scissors I managed to get the mouse, the USB receiver and the battery out. I installed the AA battery in the compartment, plugged in the USB receiver and let the PC find the appropriate software. Trust do provide a CD with the software on it so that it is easy to install.

There are a number of features about the mouse that I like, firstly the USB receiver stores in a little compartment at the bottom of the mouse which makes it easy to carry around without losing the tiny receiver. Also the mouse feels comfortable in my hard, it has a curved shape to fit the hand which works well for me as a right hander - I am not sure though whether it would work so well for left handers! It also has an on/off button on the bottom so that you don't waste battery power when you aren't using it.

The mouse has a scroll button and also a fourth and fifith button which apparently works with 'games that support five button mice' - as I don't play games on my PC I can't comment on how well that feature works.


Would I recommend it?

Yes I would if you are looking for a little mouse as a companion for a laptop. It isn't the tiniest mouse on the market but at the end of the day I do want one that it is comfortable and easy to use and this certainly fits the bill.
