Advantages: Easy to use + Transportable

Disadvantages: Difficult to get hold of this model

The Wacom 'Graphire 2' is a drawing tablet which can be used with both PC and Mac.

For those of you who haven't heard of a 'tablet' - or at least not in a computing sense, it's basically an electronic drawing pad - whatever you sketch on the unit with the plastic stylus will appear on the screen.

Tablets are extremely useful to creative professionals where they will be primarily used in conjunction with programs such as Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

This particular device is USB self-powered, and the installation - via the included disks, is quick and easy.

As well as the pen (which has two buttons that can be assigned to different tasks), there is a mouse which is comfortable to hold and has a handy scroll wheel.

Being an A6 tablet, the working area is relatively small. I personally don't find this a problem, as a small movement on the pad relates to a bigger movement onscreen. I therefore can still draw with relative precision.

Products of this type do take a little getting used to at first, but like me, if you've been using them for a while, then it becomes second nature.

I've had my Wacom 2 Tablet for a few years now, and the price when new was around £40. However, if you look on ebay, these will be selling in the region of £15 - £20. You shouldn't worry about buying a second hand one either, as Wacom products are well made and stand up to a few knocks and bumps.

Overall this is a great product - don't be put off by the small size, I also have a larger A5 tablet, and I prefer to use the smaller version.
