I don't personally own this microphone but I work daily with it and what a bit of kit it is, we use it everyday for board mwetings and it is one of my most trusted bits of equipment in,the workplace. Just plugs in to our wall and the sound sensor is so sensitive that you can even stand a few feet away from it and you'll hear the persons voice and sound clear as day. The mic has a good looking appearance in silver and does not spoil your appearance of you are clipping it on your shirt. It's great working with reliable items like this is gets loads,of use yet the sound is clear and sounds like high definition. It is however quite a costly piece of equipment but the saying is you get what you pay for and that is certainly true in this case, a great item that will do a job.
This is one of them small audio accessories that you either need and buy or simple don't and turn the page or click to the next site. In a nut-shell its a tiny microphone with a 3.5mm audio jack lead which can be connected to anything with a 3.5 jack i.e headphone socket on mobile phone or mic input on laptop computers for example.
The units can be used for a range of applications, one most commonly being to assist the setup of a car handsfree kit as used by myself, with a budget range 12v speaker and appropriate cables and connectors you can fasten this unit towards the front of the roof by the drivers side and inter-link it with your car hands-free kit, which now is compulsary in the UK anyway which creates such demand for this type of product.
Sound quality is fine or normal there is no way to describe the actual quality of produced output as it operates as a mono channel anyway.
It would not be a wise solution to spend the sort of money that is expected for retail on this particular version however there are much cheaper alternatives around which do the same job just aswell. As olympus is known for camera's and other digital technology and the brand is fairly reputable you are expecting to pay more for reputation rather than quality. just a few things to bare in mind.

When I was at university, I thought it was a clever idea to record my lectures so I could listen to them later when I was not hung over or not paying attention. It also meant that we could not go to lectures and borrow the recordings from friends on the course. Nowadays lecturers recognise that most students do not attend all their lectures so they put most of it online. Recording lectures is probably quite obsolete now however if you are looking for a cheap high quality microphone then this is a good choice.
==Price and availability==
The Olympus microphone costs £14.99 which is cheap considering the build quality. You can buy it from Amazon.
This is small and discrete and comes with the standard fitting so that it can be used with most recorders. This does not have a wire attached so it slots straight into the machine. Supplied is an adapter and a bulldog clip so you can add a wire and hook it on your clothes before slipping the recorder in your pocket. You can pretend you are some high brow newspaper reporter if you want! I needed the microphone as the one built into the Olympus recorder was not very good. This is noise isolating so you get very little background noise but you do get high quality recordings. I found this microphone to be a really good investment and it helped me though university. The design is slim so you do not really add much in size or weight to your recorder which is good.
There is no set up with this as once you plug it in you are ready to go. This is tough and well made so you really are getting a lot for your money. I could have this on the bench in Uni and even in the largest of lecture halls, the recordings were good with little feedback. I did not look after this very well and it got thrown in my bag and dropped so many times over my university time. This is covered by a 12 month warranty but it is a product I consider to be really long lasting. I definitely recommend it.
This is a reliable product that increases the quality of voice recordings. I think that the RRP of this is reasonable considering the quality of the product and how robust it is. This has a lovely stylish finish to it with a black plastic frame and a metal end. If you are looking for a high quality microphone for a voice recorder then this is a reliable and efficient purchase.
