I bought this for my 7yr old grandson. he says it's like a 'science lab'. The microscope is excellent and easy to use and with a high range of magnifications. It comes in its own carry box with a lot of tools and slides, etc. The only complaint I have is that the tweezers are poorly designed and practically useless. There is an instruction booklet with a few experiments to try, but not enough examples and nothing about the use of a petrie dish (supplied). Some shrimp eggs provided have hatched in 3 days as promised and are swimming around like mad - so overall a good buy even if a little too sophisticated for a 7 year old, but good enough to be there for a few years ahead and already been drafted in to look at a dead gnat which was 'really scary'. Good value for money.
I think this is really good value for money. It is a bit 'plasticky', but at the price, I am not surprised. You do get a lot - we have slides of broad bean leaf, onion epidermis and 3 types of insect wing plus plenty of blanks. There is a projector (not tried yet, don't know if it works), a kit for growing artemisia brine shrimps, stuff for preparing slides (no wax included, have to use candles, but they do include a gum fixative). Most is of a quality that can be used to make good slides, though the tweezers are dire - but a decent replacement can be bought for a couple of pounds in a chemists). And the optics work, which is the most important thing. There are both a mirror and a built in light (2x AA batteries required for that)
I bought this as a gift for my cousin, who is science mad, but ended up having a play myself before giving it to her as I was worried that I was too complicated a model.
This is a very lightweight microscope (even though it has cast metal stand)which can be taken as a good or bad feature; the focusing unfortunately is tricky (a bit stiff, though it may free up with use, and not really fine enough); the zoom eyepiece does not retain focus; simply touching the eyepiece or focusing can move the microscope barrel so the subject is no longer under the lens; poor user guide.
When I first received this I was disappointed at the focus issues. But having tried it out the results were OK. Whether the focusing and barrel movement will frustrate a child I will discover in due time! I viewed the provided slides; for example the bee wing - the view was as good or better than any I googled; the hairs could be seen easily and at full magnification the hair and (I assume) the follicle were clear and large, but I'm sure my cousin will correct me if I'm wrong!
There is also a 'projector' that you can attach (in place of eyepiece). It says this is advisable only up to 200X magnification though in reality I assume it means the 200X setting. It worked fine as a viewing screen provided you did not wish to see fine detail as the image is shown on a sheet of matt plastic which 'blurs out' any detail. So the bee wing showed what I assume is the structural part (the wing is a series of 'cells') but not the hairs! In a dark room the screen can be removed and the image directed down on to paper - works fine and I could see tracing becomes a real possibility. In this mode I could turn the magnification to highest setting and see the wing parts plus hairs.
You also get blank slides, tools such as tweezers and a (blunt) scalpel and a device to cut slices for the slides, but no instructions.
When I told mу 9 уeаr old I ordered her this microscope she looked аt me like I hаd а third eуe. But when this microscope аrrived, she literаllу could not put it down. She stаrted with the prepаred slides thаt I ordered аlong with it Leаrning Resources Prepаred Slides Combinаtion Set, 48 Specimens, then progressed on to everуthing she could find in the kitchen. She аsked for а journаl to record her findings аnd mаde detаiled reports. She even woke up eаrlу the morning so she would hаve time to look аt other objects before she hаd to get reаdу for school. She's аlreаdу mаking plаns for the next Science Fаir аnd аsking аbout cаreers relаted to using microscopes. Аnd this is in the first 24 hours!
The microscope, itself, is well-mаde. The optics аre good аnd imаges аre crisp. It is eаsу for а child to use аnd durаble. I like it's portаbilitу, аs mу dаughter cаn cаrrу it аround with her аs she explores. The duаl function of looking аt slides or solid objects is а plus. The lenses аre so good, thаt уou reаllу don't need the LED to exаmine objects in а lighted room. We even were аble to get greаt photos from а regulаr point-аnd-shoot digitаl cаmerа through the eуepiece. (Glаd I wаited on ordering the digitаl eуepiece cаmerа!)
I аlso ordered the Celestron 44104 microscope for mу older dаughter. The Celestron is definitelу а solid microscope, but heаvу аnd is limited to looking аt slides аnd not solid objects. The Bresser microscope аlso comes complete with аll the аccessories уou will need to prepаre slides аnd collect specimens.
This brand is bresser has a wide selection of traditionally high-quality microscopes of any complexity and purpose. This model is recommended for children of preschool age. It is classified as biological. Older it will not be interesting. Yes and characteristics, it can not be called a full-fledged optical instrument. But he's still in demand. and the price affordable. The kit includes a wide range of accessories for dissection, three lenses, samples, cover glass, spare bulb, microtome, slides and . This lets you immediately after purchase to proceed to study at home. Without spending extra time and money.
The maximum magnification of 40x lens, this achieves a high degree of optical resolution. In addition, the total magnification comes to h and allows to observe the smallest components. It uses a dual led illumination of the object stage (passing and reflecting light), which allows the study of both transparent and opaque items. To power the backlight missing two AA batteries, because of this microscope can be used in the field. The body of the microscope is made of cast metal.
Monocular nozzle with a variable angle makes research more comfortable and clamps subject table does not give the sample slide. Despite the almost complete set of all necessary to use a microscope, brand bresser has additionally produced a variety of devices for this type of microscope. One such device is a PC-micro eyepiece with software that allows you to record all observations on the personal computer in the form of photos and videos.
