The Breville Microwave and Grill.........
Member Name: MEL0611
Advantages: Easy to use, good value for money, cooks quick and efficiently, quiet
Disadvantages: None that I have found as yet!
When it comes to microwaves and me they have become a little bit of a running joke in my household! I have managed to break a couple now, it even got to the point when I had an electrician friend come and look at the power point as they were breaking that frequently! I have never brought a really cheap microwave, I use my microwave a lot so feel it is better to pay that little bit extra, that theory may not have worked but I am getting on well with my latest model so here is my review of the product.
After failing to get along with my last two models I decided upon the Breville BRE797TCGMSS model. My oven is a Breville model and has proven to be a good buy so I thought it would match well in my kitchen as well as being a trusty brand. The microwave cost me £45.00 for my local Curry's store but I am guessing that it will be available from other electrical stores as well as online sites such as Amazon.
I had spent a great deal of time looking for what I wanted and that I wanted the microwave to have certain specifications so I did a little bit of research before I brought the model. It comes packaged in a sturdy cardboard box, white and blue in colour, once you have opened it there is an instruction manual on the top as well as your guarantee, this needs to be validated and it for 2 years. Also in the box are the glass turntable and the turntable ring. The boxed weight is 17kg.
The microwave comes with a stainless steel finish and to control it is a touch screen panel. I like this because it is really easy to clean rather than having to try and clean in between buttons and dials. There is a shiny chrome handle which allows you to open and close the microwave door. Inside the microwave is a 20 litre capacity. The plate fitted easily onto the turntable and the plate is also dishwasher safe.
The controls on the front of the microwave include the timer, when the microwave is in operation this will glow blue. When the microwave is not in operation it is a clock and I have found it to be really handy and I often find myself checking what the time is on it. Underneath this timer is a setting button for what power level you want, this power level has a defrost setting which is really handy as there has been many occasions when I have forgotten to take something out of the freezer before work and now I can pop the product into the microwave. There are also the buttons to set the duration of time you want the microwave on for as well as a delay start button but I have never used this function so it would not be fair of me to comment on it.
The microwave is an 800 watt product and the grill output is 1000 watts. The microwave does work on two parts, the microwave oven as well as the grill. I do use this more of a microwave as opposed to a grill but it is mainly the microwave oven that I use. I have on occasions used the grill to brown items off or, melt things such as cheese over the top of a dish when I have been struggling for room space. I am getting on really well with the microwave itself, it is easy to use and I like the touch screen panel on the front. I do not cook really complex dishes in my microwave but tend to use it more of a cooking aid as anything else and I have had lots of success with the more simple dishes such as jacket potatatos, rice and just simply warming items up in there.
The microwave makes very little noise when in operation and once the time is complete that you have set the microwave will bleep quite loudly 3 times. There is a button that allows you to just warm something up for 30 seconds which I have found really handy when I want to warm something like pastries up in there and just add a little warmth to a dish or even pop a cup of coffee in there that I have made and not got round to drinking!
When it comes to cleaning the microwave, very little effort is needed, the glass plate as I mentioned can be popped into the dishwasher, if not warm soapy water will see it clean and the insides just need a wipe every now and again, if the insides are taking a little bit to clean I pop a bowl of hot water in there, shut the door and let it steam so the grime becomes easier to shift! The outside is brushed chrome so finger prints are not too much of an issue and again, just wipe the microwave down now and again.
In summary, I am really happy with this microwave and would have no hesitation in recommending it. It looks stylish and the control panel adds a touch of elegance to it. After using a couple of times it becomes easy to use and you will soon get into it. Food is always cooked well and comes out just as you want it.
I give this microwave 5 out of 5
Thank you for reading.
