I bought the CM107 to fit into our new kitchen as it looked simple and sleek and was one of the more reasonably priced combination integrated microwaves. We paid around £500 for the microwave.
On arrival, it was clear that it is practically the same size as a single oven - pretty big for a microwave which is handy if you have those big square dinner plates that don't rotate in a normal sized machine.
Within a week of owning it, we experienced our first breakdown. The interior lamp went. No problem I thought, I'll just replace it. However, the light is not accessible without removing the microwave casing so it turns out that an engineer visit is required. OK, this sometimes happens I thought so an engineer visit was arranged under warranty and about two weeks later the lamp was replaced.
About a week after that, my wife calls me at work and tells me that the microwave is full of sparks and looks like an electrical storm. I tell her to turn it off as it sounds dangerous. Turns out that one of the ceramic hooks that holds up the shelf support was cracked. No idea how that happened because we never touched the shelves, anyway, I call the support line and order some replacement shelf supports. When they arrived about two weeks later I find that once again, they are not a user replacable part and require the casing to be removed to replace them. So, an engineer visit is arranged under warranty and about two weeks later the problem is fixed.
By this time, the kitchen extension is almost finished but I notice that the microwave has got dust inside the display. That is annoying and no doubt requires the casing to be removed (engineer visit) and would not be covered under warranty.
A couple of weeks later, the lamp has gone again. Another engineer visit has been arranged under warranty... how many times is this thing going to go wrong? I am going to be taking advantage of the Caple 4 year service plan (underwritten by Domestic and General which costs about £45 according to their website. Don't bother buying the massively overpriced Currys / Comet master plan or whatever it is called - approaching £200 for a 3 year plan - unbelievable!
I did ask the supplier if I could send it back as not fit for purpose, having broken down so many times in such a short period but they refused, so we are stuck with the blasted thing...
