I purchased this Cookworks Microwave over a year ago for around £45 from Argos. Unfortunately Argos have stopped selling this item on their website, however I have seen this for sale on Argo's ebay outlet for only £23.99.

The Cookworks Microwave measures 26.2 cm in height, 39 cm wide and has a depth of 45.2cm. It has nice stylish modern appearance which is mainly due to its black and stainless steel finish. The microwave digital screen is located on the top right and just below is all the microwave controls and buttons for altering the settings etc.
The black glossy door has a great reflective effect, and with the stainless steel door bar handle and silver sides it really makes this kitchen appliance a nice piece of modern appliance to fit into my black and silver kitchen design. The Cookworks signature name is visible on the front bottom of the door, I personally like that the print is isn't too big as it can sometimes make appliances look a bit tacky when it is printed too big and can take away some the beauty from the appliance.
The microwave being made from stainless steel means it is very easy to clean, and a simple wipe down with a damp cloth usually does the trick for me and keeps the microwave looking good as new. The inside has a white finish, which makes it easier notice dirt or any splashes, and thankfully still doesn't stain easily, as I usually give it a good wipe every other day.

This is a simple microwave oven that also has a grill rack and many useful features. I must admit I did have to read through the manual to get used to the features and settings, but I think that is more due the fact that I am not that good with technical things and technical 'jargon'.
There is a knob and controls to alter heating times appropriately and is easy to adjust. I like the fact that it already has 9 memory functions already stored for cooking chicken, lamb, fish etc so all you need to do I press one of the desired buttons and it automatically starts heating with the appropriate time and heat/duration already set.
The grill has a 1000 Watt power capacity therefore it is more than enough to grill most food items, I personally have only ever used the grill once and that was just to makes some cheese on toast, so I can not comment much on that feature. However I must say it did manage to melt the cheese quickly and grilled the bread evenly, and made a very tasty cheese on toast!
A feature that we use a lot is the defrost mode, we pop some frozen meat in the microwave to defrost and it always manages to defrost it evenly and effectively. The microwave oven has an 800 Watt power, which I believe to be a high level of power for a microwave and gets things heated and defrosted a lot quicker than lower Watt powered microwaves. It has ranges of heat settings to choose from, including high heat, medium heat, low heat and defrost mode. I have used this microwave to heat all types of food including soup, curries, meat, vegetables, and make jacket potatoes; and all in all I have not had any bad results or anything burning or not heating up properly. Once you get used to the settings and how long you need to heat certain foods up it becomes a very easy to use pop the food in and out sort of microwave! It makes a beeping sound once the food has finished cooking or heating, which continues to beep until you open the microwave door. I must admit the beeping noise does get a little annoying sometimes, but it is more useful than annoying as I am bit forgetful at times so it acts as a good little reminder.
The microwave has large 20 litre capacity and a 245mm turntable diameter, which provides a large amount of room for cooking. It heats up food very quickly in my opinion, even defrosting a big tub of ice cream takes a few seconds (I like turning ice cream into a milkshakes!).

Overall this is a great microwave that I would happily recommend, it works great and has many useful functions and heat settings to choose from, and the best thing about it is that is also more than reasonably priced as well.
Does anyone have a scanned copy or know of a site where I can donload the instructions manual for this model? Thanks. Stefan (email@example.com)
I am not usually a heavy microwave user but needed one to use for cooking while my kitchen was being renovated - but didn't want to spend a fortune. This model has a grill function as well as all sorts of other functions so I chose it for this as well as the low price - under fifty pounds.
It has relatively good looks. The console for the controls looks a bit clunky and crowded but otherwise it fits well into any modern kitchen. It is however of very lightweight construction and I found it sometimes moved when I was opening the door, so that is a slight drawback. Another drawback, and about the only other one that I can see, is that it is very noisy in operation, in fact annoyingly noisy, not just slightly noisy.
The instruction book is clear and helps you through the fairly complex task of working out how to use it - I found it a bit confusing at first, so it isn't super simple. There are 3 grill settings and five power settings and also some auto cook settings which enable you to choose specific types of food to cook, from coffee to fish to meet. You can customise how meals are cooked to your own taste but this takes a bit of trial and error - particularly for me who had not really used a microwave much other than to defrost.
I still think that a microwave can't compete with an oven and I have, now my kitchen is ready, gone back to using the oven for most cooking and the microwave for defrosting, reheating and heating milk quickly. However, I think that the fact that it is rather noisy has deterred me from using it rather than its cooking ability because actually microwaves are very energy-efficient and apparently much cheaper to use than conventional cooking methods. It is actually a very good performer and I was impressed, not having expected very much from microwave cooking. Mine hasn't gone rusty either.
I would recommend this microwave to anyone on a budget who needs a microwave to actually cook with, will use all the functions. Anyone who is going to use it a lot though would probably find the noise too much after a while, however.
As you may have read in my previous reviews, I recently had to kit out my kitchen. Like the kettle and toaster I have, this microwave complements the set perfectly. I got mine for £40 from Siansburys.
It has a 800 watt main microwave oven power setting with 5 different variants, ranging from low heat, de-frost medium and high heat, with a 1000 watts worth of power reserved for the grill with 3 variants, both are powerful enough to cook most things.
It has a very aestetically modern, sleek look. It has a stainless steel/chromoe exterior, with a shiny black maindoor that acts as a sort of mirror (although with the inner light on , when something is cooking, yu can see in easily) and a black digital layout in the top right hand corner. It is fairly easy to clean with a wet cloth and doesnt stain too easily. There is a handle , which is easier open te door then if you had a button and a child lock feature too. The interior is white wash, but this is good as find you can see stains easier, or maybe you prefer not to and so do not like to clean it out so much
Usage and features
t has a 20 Litre capacity which means you should be able to fit everything in apart from th christmas turkey and a large 245mm turntable. There is also a grill rack when using the grill. The is a main panel of buttons are fairly simple to use but you may need to use the instructions manual included for awhile to get used to it, like I had to. There are 9 functional settings including those to cook, lamb, rice and chicken etc. All you do is press these and the timer and intensity is preset for you. There is also a dial that you can use to just adjust settings and timings quickly
It can be rather noisey on the higher settings, but this isnt unbearable or anything. It is quite light considering what it has , ie micro-oven and grill

This silver and black stylish combi grill microwave oven was given to us as a wedding present 18months ago! I have to say prior to using this snazzy piece of appliance we only used our other microwave to warm things such as beans and a few other bits and bobs really it was just taking up space and was just another item to wipe down.We have experimented with this microwave and found the handy recipe booklet you get free with it very easy to use with step by step instructions.
8oo maximum watt- when buying food items to be cooked or re-heated always look for the wattage this explains how long the product will take to cook, warm or re-heat.
1200 watt is the micro power consumption
1000 watt is the grill power consumption
20 liters oven capacity
245mm turntable diameter
452X390X262mm external dimensions ( L x W x H )
12.7kg approx net weight
It has lots of other little handy extra's i.e the defrost function ( always distribute food evenly and lay it flat as this thaws better than it being bulk.)
The combi cooking function is really handy as it allows you to cook food as well as grilling it at the same time so you can impress your friends with amazing food that's got the look that has just come out of the oven.
When the microwave has finished the selected programme it bleeps like other microwaves but if you are like me and tend to forget you have put something in because you busy doing other things then it just carrys on bleeping until you open the door!.You also get a metal wrack with the appliance to use with the grill option.
With the microwave you get an instruction booklet as you always get but this comes in useful as it tells you the weight and times of cooking and how long it will take you to cook things like vegetables, stews, soups, baby foods( always be carefull with baby foods make sure you do your own lip test) , desserts and lots of other foods.
As i said earlier it gives you a great little recipe booklet that has some lovely recipes such as casseroles, lamb chops with apricots plus some vegetarian options like potatoes dauphinois, vegetable bake and a few other options.
Would i recommend this microwave?. Well yes i would.I have done the price check and for all the extra's you get i think its definitely bang on the nose for value for money. It's easy to take apart to clean, but don't think that you wouldn't use the grill option because once you have used it you will wonder what you have been missing as i find it easier to clean than the grill in my standard oven as i have trouble bending so with the microwave being high up it does give you the pleasure of cleaning something at eye level.I think that the price was nearly £50 for the microwave over 18months ago but has come down in price as things seem to do.I hope you get as much use out of it as what i have!!
I bought this microwave after my old one decided to explode in my kitchen. I then tried to live without one for a few months but found I really needed one, especially for reheating meals for my husband when he comes home late.
When I went to look for a new one I found this Cookworks one on offer in Argos for £38 from £89 so I decided to buy it. I had never had a microwave with a grill in it before but thought I might use it once I had worked out how to use it.
The microwave is quite compact, size H26.2, W39, D45.2cm, and with its silver and black and look it is very stylish and fitted with my decor perfectly.
I tried to read the manual but got a bit bored to be honest. Using it for basic functions like reheating and defrosting is very simple but you do have to use the dial to set the time you cant just type it in. If you want to change the time after you have started it, you have to restart it.
I have to say that I dont know why people would use the grill function unless you dont have a cooker with a grill function as it takes ages to grill anything even cheese on toast (and it doesnt even do that great).
It is white inside so it is easy to clean but try to clean it straight away as it can get baked on.
My only negatives are that when I open the door if I dont hold the microwave with the other hand then the whole microwave moves across the worksurface and that it is quite noisy.
This has been a new addition to our canteen at work for the past 6 weeks now and I think I have gotten enough use out of it to write a review! It cost us 50 euro but it was only sale down from 80 euro in Argos.
We did spend a bit more money than we usually would on something for the workplace but our last microwave was bought very cheaply and didnt us very long so we thought we would go for quality over money this time. I was a bit wary of buying an appliance from Argos because of bad experiences in the past but so far nothing has gone wrong.
The microwave is very stylish and is made out of stainless steel which can be a bit awkward to keep looking fresh but nevertheless it does look very good. It is not touchscreen like newer models but to be honest I prefer the old dials and buttons because I find touchscreen to be fingerprint magnets! It has a digital clock which is easy to read. The actual dimensions of this microwave are as follows: Size H26.2, W39, D45.2cm. The microwave also weighs 12.7kg.
The power of this microwave is 800 watts and it can be a bit noisey in our canteen but nothing we cant live with. As for the actual features I really only use it to reheat food brought to work but it is certainly capable of so much more as it has five microwave power setting and is also capable of defrosting.
There is a grill rack included with this microwave but this is stored away in the cupboard and I dont think we will ever use it really. It can be a bit of a pain to clean as all microwaves are and there are already a few stains that are too hard to remove from the interior.
It heats my lunches to perfection and if my own microwave was to break I would be happy to replace it with this model as for the price it really is great value for money!
This microwave was given to me as a house warming gift last year and I have to say I was unsure what to expect from this product because I had never heard of the brand before. I have to say now that I
have been pleasantly surprised and would recommend this product to others. The product itself is a modern, functional design with a stainless steel colour finish and a black front door. It has a large door handle and a large dial; this I feel makes the product extremely accessible and would be ideal for people with mobility problems in their hands and arms etc... The inside of the microwave is easily cleanable and there is a glass turntable to place your food on. However when it comes to functionality it is very straight forward if you want to cook something for a few minutes, but then I feel that it gets complicated: you can cook food according to weight or type of food and then I must have to admit I have never got to grips with that. Overall though I feel that this microwave is reliable and efficient and has good basic functionality and as it was a gift I have recently discovered that in the Argos catalogue it was priced at under £40 and taking this into consideration I feel that this product is very good value for money.
I bought this microwave last year from Argos for about £40 which was about half price. Having not previously owned a microwave since emerging from my cave I found it pleasingly straightfoward to use. The instruction manual is a little convoluted, but mainly user-friendly with clear symbols used to guide you. The 800w output is impressive especially in view of the reduced price and the noise emitted during cooking is pretty low. I find that a milky coffee would take a shade under 2 minutes, so I'm not sure how that compares with other models. The grill function is very useful especially if my conventional oven is already in use on a lower heat setting. I have also found that the auto-defrost function to be straightfoward and handy. The silver design is very smart and the exterior and interior of the oven are easy to clean and maintain. As a microwave newbie I found the accompanying recipe book to be especially useful.
Not a feature that I over-use but one that has been useful for instance where my main oven/grill has been otherwise engaged. The grill works well enough although I personally prefer the results from a standard grill. The guide recommends the function as being ideal for thin slices of meat, steaks, chops, kebabs, sausages and chicken pieces. Usage itself is very straightforward
Obviously all mcrowaves need to be treated with care and the 'safety instructions' section of the user manual for this model evidences this with a list of no less than 51 dos and don'ts. Many of these are down to pure common sense and are pretty much universal for all microwave ovens. Of course there are warnings about materials to avoid using in the oven such as aluminium trays, metal, paper bags, plastic foam, and wood. There is a nice theoretical touch with the child safety lock function which is set by pressing the stop/Cancel function for 3 seconds. To unlock this process is simply repeated. This is a concern for me as I'm sure there are plenty of technology-savvy kids out their who could readily encrypt this facile code!

We purchased this microwave when Argos had it on offer during their end of catalogue sale around 3 weeks ago. It was reduced from £89.99 to £34.99. An absolute bargain for a new microwave. Plus, I have always been impressed with the Cookworks range so felt that we couldn't go wrong with this microwave.
The microwave is very pleasing to the eye. It has a chrome/stainless steel finish which will loook good in most kitchens. It has a nice shiny finish and it looks very modern which is always a bonus as some microwaves look quite dated. It also has a digital clock which is always handy in our house, especially in our kitchen as we do not have a clock out there. The microwave also boasts of a handle for the door instead of a push button to open it up. I prefer this to the usual push buttons.
The microwave is 800 watts which is good for a microwave. I have had 700 watts and 750 watts before now and this microwave really shows the difference. It is operated by both buttons and dials which for me took a while to get used to as I have always had microwaves with just buttons but the instruction manual was sound for telling me exactly what to do.
It has 9 auto options for cooking too if you don't know how long certain things need which are for the following: Milk/Coffee, Rice, Spaghetti, Potato, Fish, Chicken, Lamb, Beef and Skewered Meat. You literally just press the button for the corresponding food/drink and the microwave is already preset to know what times they need for cooking.
The mircowave is very easy to clean and it isn't hard to get bits of food off the plate if they should spill over while cooking. Also, the microwave inside is huge. I can fit one of my biggest dinner plates inside which I was not able to do with my previous microwave.
I am very pleased with this mircowave. It cooks food well, it is easy to clean and easy to use. It is slightly noisy but no more noisy than the regular microwave I don't think. Another good buy from the Cookworks range.
Ease of use - The microwaves functions are easy to use. You can use quick microwave function. By pressing this button it adds time up in 30 seconds until you reach your desired time then pauses few a few seconds before it comes on. There is a weight:proportion button which I have only used once for jacket potatoes. This again is easy to use. It also has a defrost function where you can press to go down in % heat. To be honest i dont like to quickly defrost things so i dont use this either and it has a grill function - again i dont use this.
Quality - I have had this microwave for only 5 months and it is already rusting. The paint on the inside has bubbled and started to peel off. The food has also stained the white paint so I shall not be buying one that is painted inside. I am currently hunting for the reciept to take it back. Having said this the microwave is just as powerful as my last expensive one that I had so it does do its job.
Cost - I bought this a few months ago at £49.99 from Argos when there was an offer on. Even though it is still cheap I dont think after 5 months i have got my moneys worth.
Noise - it is louder than my old microwave but this is not a problem to me. The only downside to this product is the painted inside. If it was all stainless steel there would be no problems.
I purchased the Cookworks Signature Stainless Steel Microwave about a month ago from my local Argos store for the reasonable price of £39.99. This particular microwave is currently reduced at the moment from a whopping £89.99! However, I did notice that the day after I reserved the product and was due to pick it up in store that Argos had increased the price to £44.99 and it currently remains at this price. Nevertheless, the store honoured the cheaper price I reserved it at.
Initially, the price drew me to this product as did its output power of 800 watts. The previous microwave I was using was left by the previous tenants who occupied my flat and was a measly 700 watts in output. I was forced to buy the microwave in question as an emergency purchase, as I had managed to set the old microwave on fire!! Silly me put a large plastic bowl in it whilst baking, not realising the dangerous consequences!
This microwave is very aesthetically appealing. The chrome/stainless steel finish of the unit will suit most kitchen interiors and I think that it looks very modern, sleek and more expensive than its low cost. I also like the fact that this microwave has a smart looking digital clock and a handle enabling you to open its door. I prefer this in comparison to one of those door release buttons which are often prone to breaking.
Operated by both dials and buttons, it can take a little time to become accustomed to all of the various settings and to figure out how to work the thing! Nonetheless, I found the accompanying instruction manual to be very helpful in this department. This little booklet also contains numerous recipes, which may be a handy thing to have. Although, personally I have not bothered to take advantage of its wisdom yet.
With 5 power settings and 3 grill power settings, you can select the way in which you cook your food to suit your own personal preference. The aspect of this microwave that I am most impressed with is its 9 auto cook settings. You can easily select the specific setting to suit all different food types, including:
Therefore, this product is very convenient and really helps in those situations when you are unsure of how long to cook a particular foodstuff. You simply select that item at the touch of a button and it does the job for you - problem solved!
This is generally a great microwave, but you should be aware of the fact that it can be rather noisy in use.
Doubling up as a grill, this microwave is multifunctional and is a definite upgrade from my previous humble microwave. I tried out this feature and grilled some bacon and found that it turned out nice and crisp and was adequately cooked. Furthermore, this function was easy to use and is convenient in comparison to regular grilling. It is great for making cheese on toast on the go!
I have yet to use the defrost setting, so cannot comment on this specific aspect of the product.
This microwave is very easy to clean as its interior is painted. Moreover, I find that it cooks food to perfection and is easy to use once you get past the initial stage of getting used to it. Inside the microwave is spacious and even my larger than avergae dinner plates fit inside without getting stuck.
One point to note is that given the appliance's light weight. Often when I have been cleaning the microwave I have found that it tips forwards and moves around the worktop. So just make sure you hold onto it extra tightly when giving it a clean.
As the Cookworks range is exclusive to Argos, this is the only outlet where you can purchase this particular microwave. You can pick this up in store, reserve it online for store pick-up or else order online for home delivery. Visit www.argos.co.uk to do this.
Overall, I am very pleased with this product. It is a multi-functional, modern looking appliance in my view that cooks food perfectly, is easy to clean and does exactly what it is supposed to do. However, whether it will stand the test of time is yet to be seen given the fact that it is a relatively new purchase for me. Nevertheless, it has proved itself to be far superior to my previous microwave and I am yet to have any qualms with it. Therefore, I would recommend this product to anybody on the lookout for a new microwave as it is good value for money and owing to this I award it 4 dooyoo stars.
Thanks for reading!
Good Value for money as bought on sale for half the original price. looks stylish and compact slightly dissapointed with the heat output as it takes longer to warm food up than my older microwave. Defrosts well and the grill functions well too. Easy to understand instructions and use of microwave is easy after a few days. Included a recipe book which is very interesting and useful. quiter than my previous microwave. I was disappointed with the inside plate as it is slightly small, however there is ample space inside to fit my dishes and bowls. The exterior of the appliance is easy to keep clean and does not leave smear marks. the interior is very easy to keep clean too. However, I have noticed that the microwave does become rather hot and steamy after using a cook function e.g after baking a potato.
Quite satisfied that it comes with a years warranty in event of breakdown.
First looks- very impressive; stay with it for a while, it will corrode! I bought mine when it was on sale at argos for £44.99. The microwave power output 800 watts is Grill power output is 1000 watts. I never used the grill much but the microwave power was good enough for many cooking items. Its buttons were easy to use- a little confusing in the beginning but got used to it in a matter of 2-3 weeks. The defrosting was easy and quick and so was cooking/heating the ready meals. All you need to do is keep the food inside, press its weight and then it automatically sets the temp/ time by itself. The outer look with the mirror finish door was cool and easy to clean. The interiors was painted white which was the one i hated the most about this microwave. In a matter of 7-8 months it started rusting inside and the paint started peeling. I reported to argos customer care immediately because it came with a year warranty and so they were happy to replace it with the similar but i opted for a different one. I realised that the inside painted finish is probably easy to clean but tehy will start rsuting soon. So now i chose the one with steel interiors.
