Built to last, so worth it for me

My old microwave, which I'd had for a good 8 years, gave up the ghost over Christmas. We mainly use it for heating up soups, beans, and bottles of milk for my toddler, so I wanted something which wasn't too expensive, but had maybe a few more features like a grill, so I'd get more use out of it. I'm also pretty impatient so the higher the wattage the better! My Dad gave me some money for Christmas, so I decided to invest in a new microwave and I bought the Morphy Richards EC925EYI in the New Year sales.

      **Price and Availability**

The Morphy Richards EC925EYI is available in Argos, currently in the sale for £94.99 down from £129.99. I think that's a good price for a branded combination microwave, which is feature packed and will hopefully last me another 8 years with good care.

The microwave is very sleek in a glossy black with black buttons, and white detailing (the logo, and button features). It has a digital clock with a green LED clock display. Overall I think it looks pretty smart and looks nice in any modern kitchen.

      **What's in the Box**

You get the Morphy Richards EC925EYI, the glass turntable and turntable ring, a high steel grill ring, and the instructional manual and Morphy Richards warranty card.

As I've said, the Morphy Richards EC925EYI is feature packed. It's a combination microwave oven, which means as well as all the features of a standard microwave, it also has grill and oven features, ideal for browning the tpo of a lasagne, making cheese on toast, or getting a good crunchy topping on a cumberland pie and making a cake!

It's a 900 watt oven which is very high for a consumer product, usually they are only around 800 watt or leven 700, which means the Morphy Richards can cook things quicker, but just as safely, so they're piping all the way through. The grill has an output of 1100 watts.

The oven setting is excellent, and can be used for puddings, even souffles! It has a temperature range from 150 to 240 celcius so it's very versatile.

The Morphy Richards EC925EYI has 10 programme settings, including auto start, auto defrost, auto weight defrost and / or cook.

The capacity is a generous 25 litres and fits a dinner plate and casserole dish no problem with it's 31.5cm diamater rotating turntable. The turntable itself is a hardnened glass and it pops into the dishwasher no problem, it's very easy to clean by hand in the sink too.

I find the Morphy Richards EC925EYI so easy to use. It's much easier than my old microwave. In fact whereas my old 800 watt microwave (before it went on the blink) took 1 min 30 to warm a bottle, the Morphy Richards takes only 1 minute, which trust me is a big time saving when you have a crying toddler!

It warms food through quickly and efficiently and the oven and grill features are a great idea, so you can microwave a convenience meal and give it a proper oven finished bake and taste, with a crispy top which you never get in a regular oven.

Overall, I don't think I'd switch back to a 'regular' microwave oven, so it's a conversion for me! I also think this microwave would be ideal for anyone who can't have a 'big' oven for any reason - for example those in sheltered housing or even those on a budget - this would be great for a student flat.

I am going to give it 4/5 because it's not the cheapest microwave with these features out there but it is a very good combi microwave, and it's hopefully built to last, though I might have to come back in a few years' time to let you know!

I recommend the Morphy Richards EC925EYI if you're looking for a combination microwave oven - especially at the sale price.
