Advantages: Simple, good option
I lasted so long in my house without a microwave. I never have microwave meals so I didn't really have a need for it until recently when I found that with a toddler and a baby on the way a microwave might be really handy to heat up little bits of their food, etc so I invested in a Morphy Richards one as I didn't want to spend too much money on something I would probably only use for heating up a few items. I had a bottle steriliser that plugged into the wall for my little girls bottles the first time around and never used the microwave function for sterilising bottles but do like the fact that now with a microwave I have that as an option for this baby.
This was £99 from Argos which I didn't think was too abd. It also looks quite ncie. It is black on the front with white trim and is quite sleek looking. It is a touch screen microwave so it has no unsightly buttons sticking out from it so I think this adds to the sleek design of the microwave. The microwave is not too massive either which I like and sits on the side of the kitchen nicely. It measures H25.8, W43.3, D33cm.
The door opens with a push of a button on the front right hand bottom side and opens easily and swings out. Inside there is a 20 litre capacity which is very big and completely ample for what I use the microwave for. There is a turn table in the middle of the microwave which does come out so you can clean it if you suffers from any spills.
There are some quite good functions on the microwave and I admit I have been using it a bit more than I thought I would. My favourite button is the popcorn button which you use, obviously to make popcorn. I can only ever find microwaveable popcorn in the supermarket and love it so have missed not being able to make it at home before. It's really simple to do with this microwave, you pop the bag in the machine, shut the door, press the button and then it knows the exact time to do the popcorn for.
I also find this microwave handy for defrosting items quickly. Before I had the microwave I would put the food out on the side at the beginning of the day and wait for it to defrost but if I forgot it would be annoying. This way I can pop my food in the microwave and either defrost it by time or by weight. The wight option is great when it comes to meat which you know the weight of.
You can also cook your items manually by plugging in the numbers yourself on the 1 to 9 keypad. The power has an output of 800 watts which I think is plenty for most food items these days. All in all I am glad I bought a microwave and have been pleased with the way this one works.
