I'm afraid I can't tell you the price of this Neff built in microwave or whether or not it is good value for money as I only own one because it was already built into the kitchen when I moved home. As I'm struggling to find any price information online I'm going to take a wild guess and say that this is a bit pricier than your average microwave picked up from Tesco or Argos! Therefore this review will focus on form and function.
This is a built in microwave, so you'd get it fitted as part of your kitchen and there isn't any flexibility on where you keep it so make sure you get it right the first time! The exterior is stainless steel with a glass door and a black 'border' around the door. Its quite stylish and not unattractive, as long as it fits in with the rest of your kitchen decor. There is a digital display which is a 24 hour clock when not in use as a timer.
The controls are quite simple, there is a small button that allows you to alternate between clock mode and timer mode on the digital display and a dial that you turn to set the timer. The dial as opposed to a calculator style keypad is a little irritating though. For the first minute it goes up in seconds, then in intervals of 10 seconds, then in minutes, but if you're putting something in for quite a while it is annoying to be turning the dial for ages rather than just pressing a few buttons.
There are 8 buttons in two rows below the dial, these are to set the 'wattage' or 'mode' that you want to use, the microwave goes up to 900w and this is what I use nearly every time so the others do seem a bit unnecessary, unless I've misunderstood what they're for! There's also a button for a 'defrost' setting which is always useful. Then there are the standard 'start' 'stop' and the big button to open the door, its all pretty simple really!
The microwave works just as well as any other I've used but in my opinion there isn't really anything special about it that makes it worth paying much extra, apart from perhaps the fact that it doesn't take up surface room in the kitchen, if space is at a premium. It is a high wattage, category E microwave so food cooks slightly quicker than lower category microwaves. Its a fairly standard size, big enough to fit a large-ish dinner plate in.
