Bought it from John Lewis with some vouchers I had, you may be able to buy it cheaper elsewhere. Mine has the silver rather than black surround as shown in the picture.
Panasonic is a solid brand and I own many products round the house made by them including camera and televisions; so I was fairly confident that I would be satisfied with the product.
The touch pad controls are very modern and feel well made. The fact the rotary switch pops back into the panel leaves the front tidy and clean. I chose this finish as it complimented other appliances about my kitchen, it's a metallic stainless steel finish, rather than the cheaper looking silver plastic ones.
Technical aspects the chap in store explained about how it's E rating meant it took the least time to heat food and that the defrosting function on all Panasonic products was excellent. Apparently you can programme the microwave to remember certain settings- if you know exatly how you like your baked beans; but I doubt I'll ever use the feature. However if you're buying for an elderly person who only ever defrosts her soups, perhaps this could be useful.
