After my experience with this microwave, I will never be going back to Russell Hobbs. It was given to my Mom last year for Christmas. It seems great for the first few weeks, heated as good as any other microwave and was as easy to use as any other. However, after this period it suddenly stopped heating food. The lights would come on and it would start cooking but I assume a component inside the microwave broke which was vital in the heating process. We were over the warranty period so was stuck with a non-functional microwave. It was going to cost as much as a new microwave to repair so we opted to trash it. My experiences before it broke are as follows: The design of the microwave was very nice, the sliver-black design fitted in very well with the other appliances in my kitchen and did not look out of place. Many of the microwaves we have seen around can look a little dated but this model certain does not - it looks modern and stylish. I really liked the interface of this microwave, it had a dial which made input very easy and meant that there were not a multitude of different buttons which can confuse many people. You can go from putting the food in to having it heated as quickly as possible with this input! The handle for opening the oven I have found to be a live it or hate it sort of thing. My Mom doesn't particularly like it as she feels it "jutes" out too much, however I really like it as I feel it adds positively to the aesthetic design of the product. The microwave is a bit on the bulky side, with being a high capacity model it does take up more room than the average microwave, but it does mean you can fit larger items (such as entire meals) into it fro heating without the sides getting dirty as the food spins into them. Overall, for the time that the microwave worked, I was impressed, but it did end up being very disappointing in the end because of its poor reliability. If you do buy this, just make sure it has a warranty.
I have been told to stay away from all Russell Hobbs products however I do like to give second chances as I know that things can be improved. I have three of those microwaves in 4 month and I am not exagerating in the end I went for a kenwood which I am very happy with till this day. The Russel Hobbs microwave it does look nice and it is easy to use no doubt about. However twice I have put my chicken to warm it out and it came out burned just in few minutes with a lot of smoke ad my smoke alarm went on so it was not very nice. Another time the smoke would come out from somewhere from the back which really worried me and that was my third one already. Not to say that is not even cheap! So, no I will not recommend this model to anyone.
It seems to have been a bad month for me in terms of all of my electronics going at once. When the microwave started to make a funny noise, I knew that it was in line for the next household appliance to break which is why I started looking early, before I had no microwave left. I knew I wanted a Russell Hobbs one as my friend has got a really nice on from them and it looks really stylish as well as having good features. The brand are a well known brand also and it just seemed to me what I wanted to pay for but I surprisingly got the best deal for my microwave in Morrisons. APPEARANCE The microwave has a really sophisticated appearance to it as it is stainless steel silver all over with the front window having a black tinted plastic look and the Russell Hobbs logo on the top left. The microwave also has 210 (h) x 315 (w) x 329 (d) dimensions in (mm) and is 800W. The microwave doesn't take up too much space and is more slender than other models. The design is nice, it has a clock display on the front and it also has a handle on the door as well as it having a dial to set the time. RUSSELL HOBBS RHM2030 The microwave is a 20 litre capacity and inside it has your usual glass dish which products sit on as it goes round. You pull the door open to get inside the microwave and it is also a grill as well. The microwave has a grill inside it which is really good so if you want to cook certain foods you can choose to cook them 70% grill, 30% microwave or vice versa depending on what you fancy. To set the time on this microwave, you just turn the dial and it will go up in seconds in tens and then minutes then you push it in and the microwave starts. There are a number of auto cook settings on this microwave so you can auto cook coffee, rice, spaghetti, potatoes and fish so it cooks it perfectly for that exact food type. I sometimes use the rice one a lot but one thing that I do find annoying about this microwave is that the roof isn't very high on it so if you have standing up rice pouches, it knocks them and the rice goes everywhere which is a bit annoying but that's me being picky for a negative otherwise I can't fault the microwave on much else. In terms of cleaning out the microwave, I don't find this that hard either as you can remove the glass dish separately and wash it and to get in and clean the roof and walls is fine and it never really smells unless you keep doing curry microwavable meals etc. The microwave has a child safety lock on it, which isn't a reason for me to buy it but if you have kids it is another feature which could be useful. I find this microwave cooks food really well, whether it be a microwavable meal or it could be heating something up. It cooks really evenly and nothing really burns with this microwave. I also like the fact that it isn't too noisy when it is on as some can be loud. The microwave is easy enough to set the time off, it has a digital display clock in green display and you can either set it to twelve hour or twenty four hour clock but you set it and then it should be set, it is easy enough to change. The microwave beeps loudly when your food is ready, so you couldn't miss it when you need to take the food out. I'd easily recommend this microwave to anyone, it cooks well, it's stylish and it is easy to set up and to use. The quality is really good with it and it would look good in any kitchen that has matching silver appliances. I am pleased with it and have nothing bad to say about it really as thankfully there have been no issues with it. I couldn't say enough about it and for the price I paid, it has been great just to have a microwave that is reliable and works well again and this is what this model does. COST I bought this microwave in Morrisons for £59.99 but Amazon are selling it on their website for £79.83 which still isn't too bad.
