Intro

After recently having had revamped our kitchen it soon became apparent that the old Microwave was sadly no longer fitting in with our new design. We don't really use microwave technology very often but we do frequently use it for our frothed milk for those special coffees. For this reason we decided not to pay too much for the new one and had a quick butchers round what was on offer.

Sanyo

The sleek stylish and elegant looking machine stood on the top of the ASDA shelf and just below was the very nice price tag of only £35. There were other more expensive one's on offer but they did not fit in with our new colour scheme as well as this silver one did. Also a lot of the others were way more expensive and considering what we were primarily going to use if for we though the increase was not merited.

There is nothing particularly fancy about this microwave it has a high power setting of 750W and has five different settings, which are explained in the supplied booklet/instructions. The unit has a customary timer which doubles with the added markings as a defrost guide. The outside red marking is in seconds whilst the inner dark blue marking indicates the Kg weight to be defrosted, this takes a bit of the guess work away from defrosting, although I'm not a big fan of defrosting chicken in a microwave.
In overall size the unit is perhaps slightly smaller than the average microwave and this was of additional benefit with our new kitchen. The inner revolving plate was therefore also a bit smaller than average, to the point one of our large dinner plates only just fits. This isn't a major problem since it isn't going to be used as much as some bigger one might be. It is however the semi shiny sheen of the silver which I like most, I have found a lot of electrical items these days are finished in a high gloss plastic which I am not really very keen on.

It does as you might expect from such an esteemed brand work very well and has proved to do the intended job equally if not better than our old model. We have used it for other things and have discovered the new markings to be very good even though they do take a bit of getting used to. I think most of all though it looks nice in our new design and has fitted in very well. The instruction manual is adequate and the unit certainly has the feel of a solid and reliable piece of equipment

Summary

For £35 there isn't really anything negative I can find with this great microwave, it works well looks smart and cool and adds a bit of elegance to the far end of the kitchen. I did however see it in other ASDA's for £40 so I think someone somewhere in the ASDA chain has made a little boo boo.
