Sanyo EM-S1550 Microwave oven

I decided to change the décor of my kitchen and hung some really nifty looking bright yellow tiled wallpaper, well I felt like a change and it was a happy looking colour I thought.
Now being a woman I then started to purchase bit by bit, tea caddies, toaster and kettle set, new coffee mugs, all in this lovely yellow colour, this décor change was costing me a small fortune but it was looking really nice.
There was one eye sore sitting on the worktop, my microwave.
There was nothing wrong with this microwave, as my hubby tried to point out; it ran like a dream, we had never had any trouble with it for the three years that we had owned it.
No I was not happy, yes you can guess cant you, It was the wrong colour. I wanted a nice new yellow one.
My birthday was coming up so Hubby went to a well-known electrical store to see what he could find, unfortunately they did not have one yellow microwave in stock.
He went onto another leading store. Please take note here that this second stores name started with the same letter as the first store. You might wonder why I should mention something so trivial but it is important, as you will find out.
There were about five types to choose from so hubby phoned me from his mobile and told me about each one so that he bought exactly what I wanted, he is very good like that my hubby.

I opted for the Sanyo EM-S1550 in bright yellow at a cost of £199.00. This came with a twelve-month guarantee.

It had a maximum output power of 800W.

The oven size was standard 0.7 cubic ft.

Variable Power Cooking Facility, this ranged from 80w right up to 800w.

Auto Weight Defrost. Allows you to de thaw meat accurately, all you have to do is enter the weight of the food and the microwave does the rest.

Delay start Function. This allows the oven to be programmed to start cooking at a pre-defined time.

Multi Stage Cooking. Ideal f
or you to cook at different power levels at different times. An example being the oven will cook at a power of 8oow for ten minutes then at 600w for five minutes.

I think I had made a good choice, the price was right and it had a lot of handy features.

Hubby brought it home, huffing and puffing I might add; the box was rather large and awkward to carry. He dumped it in the kitchen and poured himself a well-deserved beer.
I had a little peek through the carry handle holes of the box because I was so excited, Oh dear, Oh dear,
It was white!
The salesman had obviously given hubby the wrong one.
Hubby at this point was not a happy Bunny.
He got the telephone directory out and he phoned the store,
Explaining that he had bought this microwave for his wife etc. etc. and the colour was white and he particularly wanted yellow. Actually he was getting very irritated with the person on the end of the telephone, and from what I could gather Hubby was not getting the answers he wanted.
He demanded the manager after all he had the incorrect goods through their negligence.
The manager explained to him that he must be wrong because they didn’t do that model, and in fact they didn’t even have a yellow microwave in stock…My husband very quickly put the phone down and buried his head in a cushion. He had only phoned the wrong shop and rowed them.

Any way getting back to my microwave, I did eventually get the right colour and I have had it for a year and two months. It has been very serviceable but is no longer usable due to the bottom of the oven now being rusty.
The turntable roller rest has worn away the plastic coating on the base.

It has not been a very good buy, and I only had the twelve-month guarantee. So I will have to put this purchase down to experience.

Bugger!!
That's exactly what happened to ours!
(although ours is blue)
I've contacted Sanyo to see if the microwave can be repaired/replaced, but the damage only started to show 2 months after the guarantee expired.
