“ Brand: Sanyo / Microwave Type: Countertop / Cooking Power: 900 Watts / Power Levels: 8 / Capacity: 23 liter / Type: Freestanding „
I didn't really want to spend much on a microwave as I don't use it as much as other appliances in my kitchen. I set myself a budget of £60 pounds. I decided I wanted a black Microwave to match some of my other black kitchen appliances and spent a long time searching for one. All the black microwaves were in their triple figures and I was not prepared to up my budget just for the sake of a different colour! However I was elated when I clocked this little baby for £75.00. A little out of my price range but after checking the spec I thought it was worth it.
"And was it?" I hear you cry. Well in a word; No. I have gone though two machines so far and had to trail back to the store 8 miles away to return it. It wasn't third time lucky as I refused to take another Sanyo home and went for a different brand altogether.
I took my shiny new, very sexy microwave home and unpacked it. Nestling it on my work top I marvelled at how good it looked; shiny stainless steel sides with a glossy black front. It was a little bigger than I wanted, coming in at 48.3 x 28.1 x 36.6 cm but the good thing about having a 23Lt cavity space was that it fits in my large serving bowls and plates; something my old machine couldn't do.
The touch screen control panel is easy to use and by being kept out of the way helps maintain the products streamlined image. At 900 W power with a
MAFF Rating E (rated A - E with E being the most powerful) the Sanyo is one of the most powerful microwaves out there. I turned my microwave on for the first time and expected miracles. I got nothing; the machine would not even turn on. I returned my faulty machine and it was replaced without a hitch. Machine two proved to be better and for a few weeks I was happy using my product finding it easy to use and quick at heating my food and defrosting. The grill is quartz so heats up instantly and takes next to no time being 1000W.
The machine has 8 power settings and auto options such as popcorn and soup but I don't really get the most out of these and always just use the time option and power setting.
My second machine had a fault with the electrics and the digits in the clock on the front kept fading and then the light inside the microwave blew. Unhappily I had to return it to the store again this time wanting to swap to a different brand.
Perhaps I was very unlucky getting two faulty machines and if they had not have broken I would have been very happy with my microwave.
I bought this microwave last month after my previous microwave gave up the ghost and refused to even turn on. I spent ages looking around for a normal high power microwave that heated up food, i did not want it to wash my clothes or take my dog for a walk which is how complicated some of them were.
This is stylish with most of the butttons hidden away so you only have access to them when you open the door, which is a lovely shiny reflective black against the stainless steel carcuss of the microwave.
It has loads of functions and is incredibily easy to use even for defrosting as it has a weight function and a function for heating drinks eg milk or cold cups of coffee if your anything like me, it allows you to enter the wattage you would like an item heated at so there is no danger of it cooking too much on the outside and still being cold inside.
I would definitely reccomend this microwave- only downside it is a bit on the large side so check dimensions and measure space where you want it to go before purchasing.
