We decided on this microwave after our standard microwave oven started to spark. We were attracted by the 40l capacity and the fact that it also has both a convection oven and grill.
The microwave as well as the above is combinable with microwave, so you can both microwave and oven bake for example. There is a defrost setting and also an auto express setting for 3 different items.
The look -
When it arrived the box was huge! When we pulled it out of the box it was much larger than we anticipated, and had to clear a bigger space for it (something you should consider before buying) the majority of the microwave is stainless steel, and the glass door is black along with the control panel. It comes with 2 metal racks which are used for the grilling and oven methods, we found them difficult to put in at first. It also has a huge white ceramic plate, this shows up any specks of food very quickly unfortunately. The microwave in place looks awesome, it could have almost been plucked straight from a chefs kitchen - very proffesional!
In use -
The oven feature has a handy preheat option, which is miles quicker than a conventional oven, and the grill is also quick to heat, I suspect this is down to the size of the microwave. We bought this, not for huge amounts of cooking but for when when we needed to cook a couple of baked potatoes or heat up some naan breads for a curry. We've made fairy cakes in it and it worked well, pizzas needed longer than the time stated despite being at the or correct heat.
Conclusion - this microwave is perfect as an added kitchen extra, I'm not sure however you'd fare having this as your only means of cooking.
I was given this as a present for my new kitchen, and it's an excellent multipurpose oven. I don't have a traditional oven, but only use this for everything. It's of largely metal construction, is very robust in construction; indeed, weighs an absolute ton to lift! It has the build of something you'd find in a professional kitchen. The turntable is a very hard ceramic plate, which is fairly easy to clean. The oven interior is stainless steel.
The controls are the simplest and most foolproof you could ever come across. The oven stays in an energy-saving mode most of the time, and you waken it up by opening and closing the door. it then prompts you on the display to put in each of your settings; the cooking type, power or temperature setting depending on if it's microwave, convection or grill, and the cooking time. It has a preheat option also, which I don't really bother with; when doing convection cooking I just tend to set the time for 5 or 10 minutes longer, stop it while I put the food in, and hit Start again to carry on. It will also allow you to preselect more than one cooking mode after another. For example if doing a baked potato, you might want to microwave it for a few minutes first to shorten the cooking time, but finish it with convection to get a nice crispy skin, and you can set that no problem at all.
If I had one quibble with this, it's that it tends to cook faster towards the back of the oven when you're using convection cooking - if using the metal racks instead of the turntable, a larger item will cook more on that side. The grill is also in towards the back, and there's not much room to get your hands in to remove something without danger of singeing a wrist on the metal shelf...
All in all a good, solid, reliable machine.
We purchased this Microwave now just over six months ago for approxamtly £200 from Currys and must admit it is much better than your ordinary standard micro waves. The microwave its self also has three seperate functions the first as a Microwave Oven, a Grill and also your stanard Convection Micro Wave. All in all you are definatly getting your moneys worth out of it.
The microwave itself has a capacity of 40 Litres which has easily coped with doing our traditional Sunday Roasts and Christmas Dinners. With a 900 Watts power and a grade E Oven Output Catergory it means it simply takes alot less time for you to cook any thing that wish to put inside, simply this means the oven itself takes alot less time to heat up and heats up hotter .
It comes also with a few usefull accesories such as the function to defrost Chicken, Steaks and Minced Meat also with allowing you to Express Cook your food as well. With a built in kitchen timer i could not possibly ask any more from a micro wave.
Even though the Microwave itself does take a while to get used to and to ensure that you do have all the correct settings i would advise the manual is kept nearby.
