I have to say that when I was looking for a microwave for my new fitted kitchen I was more interested in style over substance and I didn't want anything particularly complicated I just wanted a nice, neat microwave that would heat and defrost food and not something that would be all singing and dancing as I have had microwaves like that in the past and found all the controls to be too complicated and most of them were never needed or used.
My main priority was finding a nice red one that would go with the rest of my red accessories in the kitchen but this was more difficult than I first expected as although there were a few different red microwaves they were the wrong colour or just too expensive.
I ended up buying this Swan microwave as it was in my price range and the colour was more vivid than some of the other microwaves that I had seen when looking for one.
It also wasn't overly complicated looking so I knew that I would be able to get on with it without having to refer to the manual every time I wanted to just heat some soup up.
The microwave has knobs on it instead of being touch screen and I actually prefer this as I find it so much easier to just turn the knob to the desired setting instead of having to find it on a touch pad.
It has a low, defrost, medium low, medium, medium high and a high setting. I find that these settings are absolutely perfect for most things and I have never overcooked foods such as microwave meals that require cooking on 30% for instance as I just adjust the knob to medium low for that and such and such.
The only thing that I miss about the knobs as opposed to the touch pad is that I do miss the option of being able to put a specific time in it such as seconds as this isn't available in the timer knob. It has a timer which can go to 30 minutes and is set in minutes so if something really needs a specific time I need to keep a close eye on it.
That is the only problem that I have had with the microwave though as it really is easy to use and it certainly looks really good in my kitchen and I love the fact that the red colour is so vibrant and not a wishy washy red.
It looks really neat and not too bulky and big on my worktop and I am happy with what I can fit inside it and haven't had a problem with things being too big to go in it yet.
I got this from the Very catalogue where its usual price is £55 but I got it on their sale and only paid £40 for it which I was very happy with.
This microwave is very reasonably priced but is a really good looking addition to your kitchen. It comes in several different colours - red, black, white, cream and purple. Swan also do kettles and toasters to match the microwaves, so your kitchen can look really stylish at a great price.
The microwave has six different power levels including a defrost function. It has two silver knobs for the power levels and the timer and a silver pull handle to open it.
It is perfect for everything I need a microwave for; heating, cooking and defrosting. However, if you are looking for something more from your microwave it may be a bit basic for you. The only thing that I can think of as a negative is that is is quite noisy when you are using it. Not majorly so but I would say it was noisier than previous microwaves I have owned.
But overall this is a lovely addition to my kitchen and I am definately going to be buying the matching kettle and toaster to go with it.
