Advantages: compact and well priced
I have recently had my kitchen redecorated and I decided that it was time to upgrade my old microwave as it was quite large and bulky and taking up a lot of room on my kitchen side. So I decided to try and find a small compact microwave so that I could keep it on my kitchen side board without losing any more work space, but this was harder to find that I thought it would be.
In looking around on what was on the market I found that microwaves had drastically moved on and that they were now microwave ovens and that they were capable of so much more, but this also meant that they were a lot larger than I had hoped. In looking into the prices they were also a lot more costly that my budget had allowed as I probably only use a microwave two to three times a week at most so did not want to spend a fortune. So this meant that I had to shop around and something that I had hoped to have on order in a few minutes turned out to a take the best part of a day.
The microwave that I opted for in the end came from Tesco Direct and it was one of their own branded value items. It was the MM08 microwave and it had a 17 litre capacity, has 700 watt power and came in white with a black glass door. It is simple to use as it has five power settings, a defrost setting and an internal light. This microwave is 34.5 cm deep, 25.8cm high and 44cm wide so it is perfect for any kitchen side board.
This microwave costs under £30 and the best thing is that you can also collect Tesco clubcard points on your purchase
The advantages to this microwave is that it is simple to use as there are two dials one for the timer and the other is for the temperature control, all you have to do is set the microwave to the temperature that suits what your cooking and then adjust the timer and away you go.
There is a disadvantage that I find to this microwave and this is that it does not look all that wonderful as opposed to other microwaves that I have seen, but with the small price tag I am not too sure if it is really something that I should be complaining about as it does a great job and does anything that any other standard microwave can do.
If you are cooking a lot of items for under a minute this microwave only has a timer that goes in minutes, so if you have something that needs 30 seconds I find it easier to just stand and count otherwise you could over cook your item. But for any foods that take longer than a minute its brilliant.
My Nan was recently after a microwave as her old one had given up and I also recommend this to her as it is ideal with it minimal buttons and no electronic screens there is nothing that can go wrong and it is easy for her to use.
Summary: cooks well looks ok
