I started out doing some woodwork at home as a hobby. I decided to buy a top of the range router and looked around, done some research and found this TREND T11EK router. I read a couple of reviews and found out that it is one of the best plunge routers available on the market today. I bought it and here is what I think: SOME USELESS INFORMATION: Trend was previously known as ELU. This machine is 100% the same as the DeWalt plunge router. GENERAL REMARKS: 5 Stars for build quality. It is probably the finest router I came across so far. I paid £240 for this router in 2007. For any further reference please visit the Trend website at http://www.trend-uk.com MOTOR: 5 Star for low noise and strength. The motor speed is adjustable between 8 000 and 20 000 rpm. It comes with a soft-start. This means that it will not fly off from zero to full speed. The soft-start ramps the speed up to the desired speed. This is to prevent misalignment of the cutter when you start the router. The motor itself, for what is, runs fairly quiet in router terms. ADJUSTMENTS: 5 Stars for options and accuracy. This router beats most other routers when it comes to adjustment and I find it extremely rigid. Once adjusted, I won't let you down or move due to vibration. The height can be adjusted from the bottom of the base for those who wish to mount this router on a router table. The stops are easy to adjust and there are three quick adjust height stops available. FENCE: 5 Stars for quality and adjustments. The fence is great and has a fine adjustment which is rare to find on routers. The fence is also made of solid metal alloy and makes routing accurate and stable. CUTTER SIZES: 5 Stars for options and expandability. This machine comes with a 1/2" collet but you can get other sizes. I just bought a 1/4" collet for my router. I suggest getting the collet lock nuts for each collet as they are a pain to remove each time you change collets. The maximum cutter size this router can handle is 86mm which is unique and this alone beats most of the competition. ACCESSORIES: 5 Stars for the standard kit and optional extras. It comes with a fence, fine adjustment tool bar and dust extraction kit. There are many other Trend accessories for this machine available and since this review is for this machine only, I suggest looking at the accessories from the Trend Website. VERDICT: I recommend this router for all serious woodwork professionals. It might be a bit over the top for people who only use it for casual work. It is once of the best routers I have seen so far. ** As first reviewed by myself on Ciao ***
