Advantages: none

Disadvantages: Won't correct their error., Won't reply to emails.

I ordered a Lexmark Z55 from their website as they seemed to be £20 cheaper than their nearest competition and the printer was finished in black. Well, I thought I may well order my next computer from them and it would match.

Three or four days later I received their prepaid invoice (I had paid by credit card) but no Order Confirmation form. From the details on the invoice I could track the order on their site and it showed an 8Kg box travelling from Limerick towards my address. That afternoon my wife signed for a Dell box delivered by courier - but it wasn't an 8Kg box containing a printer, but a small box the size of a couple of video tapes containing just a power lead, not even a UK type.

Notifying Dell of this error was not easy, all emails to their so-called "Customer Care" being blocked if you cannot enter some Service Code, which of course is non-existent if the product hasn't arrived. I found a Missing Item form eventually, and completed that. An automatic reply arrived in a few hours and two days later I received an apology and a reference number under which a printer was said to be being sent to me.

That was a month ago. The number they gave me is not accepted by their tracker facility, no printer has arrived, and the despicable Dell will answer NO further emails, either about the printer or in response to a request to cancel and issue a credit card refund. If I didn't keep seeing their name on pop-ups, t.v. commercials and the like, I could easily be convinced that they had gone out of business, behaving as they are like a fly-by-night rip off merchant, avoiding either supplying the ordered goods or refunding their cost.

I want only a refund from these rogues. Can you imagine the nightmare of trying to get them to attend to a printer with problems? Neither do I want a Dell-black printer to remind me of these hassles, for it's for certain that I will order neither a new system, nor anything else
from them, ever. This firm built its reputation on first class service, but now they seem to be as big as they want to be, and are as complacent as any public utility. Unless you revel in hassles, I'd suggest you keep well away.

I bought a Dell Dimension Desktop about 4 months' ago, and it wasna easy. I ordered 'on-line', because that was the cheapest way of doing it. Fortunately I printed out and then checked the specification against the 'Order Confirmation' that they sent. One important item was missing from the confirmation (a CD-ROM drive in addition to the CD-R) and the graphics card was not upgraded (as declared in the advertisement that I responded to). I had to telephone them to get things sorted. I was told initially that the advert was a "mistake". My response was " .. in that case, so is my Order ...". This produced a new (correct) specification. But if I had not printed out the order and checked their response, I reckon I would have been deemed to have accepted their specification.

N o complaints about the 'puter though ....

Hello. Welcome to Dooyoo. It is awful isn't it when these big firms are so hopeless. They seem happy to take our money and offer terrible customer services in return.Kim :-)
