Last week I was the new proud owner of a new Dell Dimension worth around £2000 so I thought.As soon as I opened the package I noticed they had screwed up my order and sent me a 15 inch flat panel monitor instead of the 17 inch flat panel monitor I ordered,I also discovered that they had installed a DVD/CDRW combo-drive instead of two seperate drive which I also ordered.I also noticed they even sent me the wrong mouse.After this I deceided to check the spec etc and noticed they fitted a Geforce MX420 instead of the Geforce Ti4200,I was obviously livid at this point.Next morning I received the invoice and full spec record through the post and discovered they fitted the wrong hard drive and even gave me the wrong warranty.I decided to check the price of what I was sent and the total come to around £1150(around £800 less than what I was charged).
When I contacted their customer care is when the fun began,I have spoken and explained my problem to a different rep every night for over a week only to be promised a phone call from a manager the next day which I never receive.The manager responsible has their e-mail printed on my invoice but I have tried more than a dozen times to contact her only to have my e-mail sent back to me stating that it is undeliverable.On Wednesday I phoned again demanding to speak to a manager and when I spoke to this manager she said that she would send me another pc and also send someone to collect the system I received,she also stated that I would definetely 100% receive a phone call and e-mail stating my new order number,it is now two days later and I still havn't received the order number.
I am now in two minds whether to contact the press or trading standards to rectify my problem as I obviously can't.I strongly suggest to anyone considering buying from Dell to think again

We had similar problems with Dell a few months ago. It is pointless to expect deliveries from Dell, or for them to return phone calls or respond to e mails. We found ourselves £2000 out of pocket and it took almost seven weeks for us to resolve the problem. Finally we managed to do this by referring the matter to our credit card provider and you might wish to consider doing this.

Good luck. I'm afraid you'll need it if you go down anything other than the credit card route!

Welcome to dooyoo. However good a product, customer care is the thing which frustrates most. After 8 months of similar problems with British Gas, I sent them a copy of my letter to Watchdog. The problem was sorted within days.
