I bought a NEC dvd writer in February of this year with Gladiator Computers,received it the next day all was fine until the dvd laser part of the writer "died",I informed Gladiator Computers by e-mail and was told to pay the postage (it had to be registered at a cost to me of £6.55p) to return the dvd writer for it to be "checked" to see if it was actually faulty,I had to e-mail them to ask if it had been "checked" they replied it was faulty,and they would be sending it to THE MANUFACTURER for it to be checked and for them to decide whether to repair or replace it.
I was not happy having to pay the postage to return faulty goods to the retailer (Gladiator Computer) when the goods were still under manufacturers warranty I contacted my local Trading Standards Department,explained the situation,they said Gladiator Computers were at fault,Isent them a recorded delivery letter explaining that they were wrong to charge me postage.
Gladiator Computers reply maintained that they had every right to expect me to pay the postage, as, if I had bought the dvd writer in the high street it would have cost me petrol to return it to the store,parking fees and my time and they (the High Street Store)wouldnt have reimbursed me.
As I'm writing this (October 12th.) they have had my dvd writer for two weeks and still no news, so........in conclusion I would not recommend this company to anyone.

merrylegs - 29/10/04 Really surprised by corm0's unfortunate experience. Almost every review I had seen of Gladiator Computers was extremely favourable. I was also advised to use them by a professional techie. Maybe I was lucky but 9 month ago I took the plunge and ordered a system from them. I got exceptionally high standards of advice, a great price on a system built to my spec and delvered within 48 hours with all the software I ordered loaded - including even the service packs. And the after sales service has been the best I have ever experienced. Very sorry to hear about your experience corm0 - I can only say it doesn't seem to mirror what almost all their customers seem to say - though that's not much comfort to you.
