Advantages: Great products
Disadvantages: The odd bugs that I hear about
Ok Ok, their home user Operating systems have had many bugs, (I have none with Win98) mainly with WinME, But where would Thousands of companies and millions of kids be today without Microsoft? I think Microsoft are a brilliant company despite what I might say when I get angry with WinME. They have managed to employ 32000+ people world wide increasing unemployment. They don't make half as many mistakes as Netscape with their web browsers. I think that Bill Gates did get lucky by owning such a large company, it has to be said, but that happens with lots of famous people. With Microsoft so many standards have come about making the computer world a simpler place, for example game developers used to have to design their games for so many different graphics cards it started to become a joke, so Microsoft set a standard, Direct X / 3D. Microsoft are always trying their hardest even if things do go wrong because very advanced programming ain’t easy, whenever you say “Oh for God sake” to Internet Explorer, just think for a minute, and ask yourself “could I write a better program” no is probably (definitely) the answer as people like Netscape have tried and failed amazingly, Netscape were the first people to write JavaScript (Originally known as LiveScript) and Internet Explorer seems to support it so much better. IF we had so many Operating systems competing I think I would put my computer down the drain. Why, because I would have to find the right software / Hardware for my Operating system and some software / hardware companies would be biased so then I would have to buy a whole new Computer for one piece of software / hardware and it goes on and on. If you hate Win98 / 95 then move to stability, Win2000 I have had no crashes /errors etc. from day 1.

Trixi - 11/01/01 Good op. Personally I don't like mircosoft, mainly because of the bugs & conditions. My husband hates them and prefers Linux. I only know a bit of Linux but hope to learn more so I too can opt out of Mircosoft. |
