Complained and got snide comments from a woman in their customer service department. Told her she was bad at her job and not to reply. She replied with more snide comments and I told her that was why she was bad at her job. She doesn't get that customer service are meant to smooth over problems and make the customer feel happier with the company. That is how you are meant to get job satisfaction in a role like that. You make a cross, unhappy customer feel better. She thinks her job is to be snide, nasty and vile to make herself feel better about having a the job she has. She then replied again, after I had told her not to contact me, with more snide comments. Totally creepy, I'm worried I've given this company my details. I think they may have some serious bunny-boilers working for them. Avoid!
Having had the same PC for about 7 years and finally getting to the point where it was getting much too long in the tooth, and having saved for several months I finally decided the time had come to buy myself a new pc. I decided to buy from Overclockers as over the years I have bought various bits and pieces for my computer from Overclockers as and when I have needed them, a Sound card here, a hard drive there etc and always found the service to be fast and efficient.
Having been out of the world of PC hardware for some years I first needed to decide upon a specification and the exact components I wanted to get the best performance for my money.
Seeing as I have been a member of Overclockers forums for years I figured that would be a good place to start by asking people who are clearly into their pcs and who keep up to date with the latest technology etc.
A quick thread in the general hardware section asking for help speccing a pc got several well reasoned responses and a good few suggested shopping baskets of components. I spent a day or so looking over the various suggestions and along with asking various supplimentary questions and asking if different bits of kit worked well together I finally settled upon a configuration which all in the thread agreed would be a great pc for the money I wanted to spend.
I went to the online shop and added all the items to my basket ready to purchase. Luckily as a loyal forum member I benefit from free next day delivery which naturally I took advantage of.
As promised, the next day I took delivery of a large boxed nicely packed up with all the hardware I had ordered. Great service!!
I got on with putting together the pc which went fairly well but when I hit a couple of stumbling blocks I went back to the forums and asked for help and advice which again was very quick in coming and got my build progressing within a few minutes.
Once I finshed building the pc and installing the software I was really pleased with the performance.
As mentioned I have used Overclockers several times and I have to say every time I have been impressed with the service I have received. Items have been dispatched and delivered very quickly and their prices have been pretty much spot on. It is worth looking out for their special weekly deals which can give you quite a saving at times.
The thing I like most about Overclockers is the fact that aswell as the shop there is the community on the forums who are only too happy to help out when it comes to suggesting products to meet your needs which is extremely helpful as the amount of collective knowledge on the forums is huge!!! It is also lovely to be able to benefit from free postage for being a loyal forum member, so that is something to think about too!
The Returns Dept. Lets down an otherwise good company. The sales staff are polite even if they do take an age to answear the phone (you are charged a premium while waiting). But the Staff in the returns Dept are rude and jobs worthy - fine if all goes OK and works but as this is not the case to ba avoided im my opinion
They use a premium charge phone number for their sales line. Says everything you really need to know about the contempt in which they hold their customers. Now you know why you will be put on endless hold if you are foolish enough to call them to buy something. Keeping you waiting might well be their biggest source of profit.
Purchased a gpu from ocuk which failed. Took them over two months to get me a replacement when they finally accepted it was faulty.
I also received a motherboard which was damaged (dropped on one corner by the looks of it, box damage to match).... Their answer to this was "you damaged it, warranty void and £10+vat testing charge". This testing involved them looking at the board, nothing more.
They then sent it back to me and charged return courier. I rang to complain, the guy hung up. I find their customer service to be god awful, and they have no interest in helping you once you've spent your money. Any criticism posted on their forum results in posts being deleted or you being banned.
Recent comments in the news forum have been misleading, such as : Samsung spinpoint F1 is no different to the F3. The F3 is infact far faster but a certain staff member wouldn't admit to this fact.
Avoid if you want to be looked after, once you've purchased.
I ordered a PC and monitor from Overclockers.
To cut a long and stressful story short, the PC did not work and I had to use their terrible returns system.
Once you return the item, the insist on testing the product. Thankfully, they did indeed find it was due to faulty RAM. (This is relevant as if they do not find a fault, they return the item to you, charge you an administration cost + collection fee + redelivery fee, not to mention you get the same faulty item sent back to you!).
They refunded the cost of the PC after 5 weeks from the date of the original order. They refused to refund the cost of P&P (a ridiculous £30), because they said the monitor works fine.
What use is a monitor without a PC?
In summary, after 5 weeks, I have no PC, a monitor and I've lost money in the whole process.
Please avoid this company at all costs. They sell faulty goods and do not care one bit about their customers.
Recently I ordered a computer system from OCUK, since it turned out that the motherboard wasn't going to be in stock for a long time I decided to change the motherboard, only to have the wrong motherboard be added to my order at an extra cost of £30 more! After this was corrected they then failed to ship my order so it arrived on a later date then it was supposed to. These errors in themselves would not have been unforgivable if it had not been for what happened next.
The computer case they had advertised as being designed for the latest gaming hardware turned out not to fit my very common graphics card, given the product reviews and forum posts there is no way that OCUK could not have known the product would not fit before they sent it to me, yet they decided not to inform their consumers of this blatant flaw in the product in their description of it. Upon trying to return the product to them as the law gives me the right to (under the Distance Selling Act and in this particular case the Sale of Goods Act) OCUK flaunting the law refused to refund the product because it had been opened. This led to me having to threaten them with returning my other orders to them and informing the relevant legal authorities.
You can't knock overclockers for their ability to ship things quickly when ordereing directly from their website. ***** BEWARE-BEWARE-BEWARE
Unfortunatly its a bit like playing russian roulette using this company. If your order is wrong, your not happy about something, you simply want a bit of advice, or god forbid you want to RMA, welcome to planet nightmare!!!! Their 10p a minute, keep you waiting on hold every time for at least 20 minutes before you finally get through to Mr Rude who can't get rid of you fast enough, will quickly make you realise maybe your making a very big mistake.
Every employee of this sad loser company needs a seriously intensive course in customer service! You get the distinct impression their don't take their jobs seriously at all and they're basically laughing at us, not to mention the blatent obvious lies they frequently tell. You enivtably have 'come through to the wrong number' but they insist they can't transfer because its 'broken' and you'll have to redial yet another 10p a minute, keep you waiting for another 20min, rip off number! If you call near end of play they'll keep you waiting for ages then hang up on you even thoiugh you've just spent good money being on hold!
They seem to be big with the teenage market which is basically the mental age of all the employees combined. There webnote system for customer service is a joke. They only ever reply to queries they can say NO to. Anything else is simply ignored! You get a confirmation 'received' email of webnotes they want to reply to, but you get no confirmation 'received' email to anything they want to ignore; presumably so they can say they never received anythig??. There's no telephone number for customer service, and sales/ support staff refuse to help but redirect you back to the webnote system!!! arggghhh
You eventually just give up and resign yourself that you've lost alot of time and money. They also refuse to except any returns even though their terms and conditions expicitly say they do!. The only other option is yet more time and money in legal action! This comapy is not good for your Karma!
Ordered on a few occasions, dealt with customer service which is terrible. Returning items is a nightmare with costs involved eveywhere, had items sent that are not what was advertised. I have learnt my lesson and wont use again now, ebuyer will get my custom.
Overclockers seem to be ok at selling but terrible at support or honour their obligations under Sales of goods act, distance selling regulations, or warranty claims.
Basically if you have any problems with faulty items expect a long drawn out fight to get it resolved. Expect the mother of all battles if it involves more than say £100. They want your money but won't offer a decent support service or system when the goods turn up Dead On Arrival or develop a fault.
Their in house contact webnote system promises a reply usually within 4 hours but in my experience takes a week for each reply. They make promises that managers will call back or email but they never do.
They ignore emails and complaints and after 1 or 2 emails they stop communicating hoping that you will give up and go away.
The warranties they offer are a joke often taking 4 months or more to repair or replace items.
if you complain on their forum about poor service they delete your post and ban you, blocking your Ip address and putting a cookie on your system to block you also.
So you are taking a big gamble if you buy from this company.I hope that you dont experience any faulty or DOA goods from them.
I am still waiting for my pc I ordered at the beginning of the year. Excuses every time I phoned so have now cancelled my order. Just have to see how long I wait to get my money back.
I ordered my old PC from one of those dodgy "custom" pc websites, I ended up waiting for well over 5 months for the thing to arrive, this has never been the case with Overclockers. Regularly I muse their forum to discuss components, this has helped me many times when looking for new things to buy, it is because of my regular use that I now get free 1st class postage on all items ordered from there; this alone is worth using the site.
One day when I ordered a headset at 9 in the morning, I received the item the very next day, I have never waited more then 3 days for my order no matter what I've bought, from odd items to full system. It is because of this that I can not understand what the other reviews are actually going on about, from reading a few it seems that those ignorant to computing have always had issues, suggesting that they did not know what they were doing in the first place.
Not only is the service excellent but also the navigation of the site, everything is laid out simply where you can find it and even if you can't there's an easy to use search bar. Its a great place to discover new products or even just to browse, not only can you buy pc components but also games consoles and televisions.
The combination of the good quality site and the forums puts Overclockers in a league of its own, miles ahead of the competition.
I had to return a faulty motherboard a few weeks after purchasing it in August 2010. They have lied and played delaying tactics ever since - as well as being arrogant, unfriendly and unhelpful when you phone (for which they charge 10p a minute to play you hold music for 30 - 40 minutes each time)
They confirmed it faulty a week later. Then they promised it had been sent back to Asus (in an email) - but when I phoned a week later to check progress they told me it had not been sent yet! 28 days after they received it I phoned to check on progress as their Returns Manager said in an email that they were legally obliged to return it in 28 days. They said it hadn't been returned yet so I reminded them that they had said they had to return it in 28 days - and suddenly it was there "as it had arrived that morning but not been checked yet" Yeah, right!
It arrived back the next day - exactly 28 days after they received it - but all the accesories were missing! They say they can't replace them as I purchased the motherboard over 28 days ago (but they have had it for 28 days) and they specifically instructed me to return the accessories.
They are also delaying about meeting my legal right for them to pay for the postage costs to return the faulty one to them. First they agreed to pay it without a receipt (on the phone - he knew the cost to within 15p - first class recorded) then they want a scanned copy of the receipt. I have it but can't send it to them because they won't give me their email address even though I've asked twice! So over a month since returning it I still don't have a working motherboard and now am another £8.65 down. I'll be taking this to Trading Standards.
I'll avoid overclockers.co.uk like the plague in future!
Using overclockers is a gamble and I have always known this. I was ok with putting up with the 40% chance of receiving a faulty item. Now I have decided to stop dealing with them because their customer service, their total shift to heavy duty online forms designed to make the customer do their work has now become a sham. Talking to their support team you can hear the thinly veiled contempt in their voices. My business spent 11k on equipment from them over the last three years. Yet, because I have not posted 200 comments on their forum I dont get free delivery. The 16 year old forum junkie gamer does. They wrongly believe that fanboys on their forum is a wonderful ad for the company, and yes they are praised highly on their forum, but some of us have lives. Is that worth losing me OKUK?
I've been a regular user of Overclockers now for what feels like 10 years not sure how long they have been around but feel like that long.
I first ordered a barebones computer from them with all the components and found their service truely awesome. I placed my order then 2 days later everything arrived with no human contact.
They truely are the masters within the online computing world, in fact I'm now using the 3rd desktop computer that I have ordered from them, this time I went with one of the overclocked bundles. These guys really know how to put a machine together I have a rockets for less that £500, when i checked each component for me to build it myself it would have been £600.
I've only had one bad delivery which was a screen i returned it to them and received my replacement screen now questions asked 2 days later, as a service i can only give this 10 out of 10 and recommend that everyone just take a look next time you need some computer peripherals or even just a new computer.
