PC with Leprosy (Panrix)
Member Name: mmmisty
Advantages: quick despatch, good packaging Disadvantages: loads of system problems, poor helpdesk support, poor value
After stunning reviews by a PC mag ( which shall remain nameless) I spent £1300.00 on my first PC, it arrived quickly and was very easy to set up, nice easy instructions and good packaging. But Ive only had it just over a year and already its had 4 different motherboards attempted to be fitted and had windows reinstalled 3 times and had to be returned to base even though its within its ON SITE warranty because it couldnt be repaired on site?? Despite the first engineer agreeing that there seemed to be a problem on the hard drive, the PC came back with another new motherboard and little else, did i mention the DVD drive also died? and then the mouse? well you probably get the picture. As its my first PC I'm not sure how frequently problems should develop but I dont think that this is acceptable, the phone service helpline is atrocious, and thats just getting through. In my many calls i have encountered a couple of very helpful people but it seems thay are too few and far between. Panrix have admitted that they were victims of their own success, I think that they are wrong - we customers with inadequate systems are the victims. Several files have disappeared or altered over time (yes ive checked the sysytem for viruses with two different programs) and almost killed it when i tried to use Nortons Crashguard! I think that the PC mags may test a system very well but unless they keep that pc for a year then they cannot give any indication as to its reliability or durability, best to check out this site when its time to but my next PC.
