PC World the first shop we think of (PC World)

Advantages: it sells most of what you want, well set out

Disadvantages: Staff dont know their stuff, long waiting period for repairs

The moment any of us I am sure, want to get a computer we head for PC World. We are then amazed by everything in the shop because we know nought about computing. So I am sure that I can say that everyone who is reading this has popped into PC World at sometime in their life!

This shop is well set out with all the different brands of each item put together and marked on the shelves what the item is.

In the middle of the floor you will find a basket full of cheap sell off things and things that are soon to be out of date as a newer version is about to hit the store.

You can find most of the items you require to set up your computer and the internet.

They have a service desk where you can take your computer or computer items to have them checked over. For a price they will do home visits and set up your computer or your networking for you.

If you have something go wrong or not working they will change it for you only asking for your name and address.

That is the possitive side of PC World!

The other side of it is this. I have found though that there are not enough staff to help you in your purchase and even the member of staff that you have finally managed to grab does not know much about the item you intend to buy. I know they cannot know about everything but when they know less than I do that is really saying something.

Once you intend to buy something then they start on you about insurance. Now for 5 years to pay nearly a quarter of the price incase it goes wrong is a con. Imagine what computers were like only 5 years ago and see how far they have advanced since then and you will see what I mean.

If your lap top goes wrong it can take literally months to get it back. They are a big firm and it seems that every man and his dog takes items for them to repair or why does it take so long for them to check it over.

Also they are not the cheapest. Please look around. Our local PC World is next to The Computer shop and Staples and often the same item is cheaper in one of these shops.

I must tell you this too. Last Sunday I was in our local PC World and went to pay for an item. Me and others were switched from one till to the other all of which would not work. Then one of the staff said "I am sorry about this but all these machines were serviced by us in the last couple of days". Everyone clicked on at the same time and said they would not be going there for a service then! There was uproar and so much laughing that the staff began to get angry!

So if you go to PC World I would advise reading up about the item you wish to buy so as you have as much info as possible and only need the minimum advise from them.
