Advantages: fair prices on pcs and laptops
Disadvantages: unfair prices on computer parts
I visited local PC World store today.
PC World is a computer shop. You can buy most things from there. Ink cartridges for printers. DVD drives, hard disks, printers etc. PC World sells most components that are needed to run a PC and use the internet.
PC World has different sections. For instance inks for all makes of printers are in one corner. On the other side you may find speakers for PC's and Laptops.
Things are laid out to please the buyer. The lights in the shop are bright and makes some items better than they actually are when you bring them home.
Anyway I had a good look around. I took down prices of five items in the shop and than compared them to sellers on the internet and in all cases PC World lost out by as much as £10 on something.
I also made a list of several Laptops, PC World didn't sell all of them but the ones they sold were similar in price to couple of retailers although PC World wasn't cheapest on this either.
I bought printer paper and couple of little things.
Staff in the shop were extremely polite and the ones I spoke to had good knowledge of computers. One of them even kindly offered 10% discount as I knew his family.
By doing this analysis of this store I came to the conclusion that buying PC's and Laptops from PC World is advisable because the prices are fair and you collect your goods straight away. Buying components is not advisable because if you are going to buy three things you may end up paying as much as £30 extra from average priced seller on the net.
I am considering a PC purchase from this store in near future/ 10% offer is very tempting.
Summary: Shop that sells computer parts

I bought a Maxtor 320Gb external hard drive in their after Christmas sale, and it was at least £10 cheaper than any on offer at eBay.
