Advantages: Like buying a ford, when you find it's crap, you can console yourself that you're not alone.

Disadvantages: They talk utter S**t to try and get you to spend lots more money on something you don't need

Well, we were looking for some windows terminal server licenses for one of our clients. Naturally, all the normal outlets were pretty expensive so I dedecided to do a google search. We discovered that PC world Business were offering these licenses on their E-shop for a price that was much cheaper than the other outlets. Great, I thought and hastily placed my order with one of the UK's biggest brand names.
Well, 5 days passed and the order had still not arrived, I rung them up and they were going to get somebody in another department to ring me back. Well, the day came to an end and nobody had rung me back.

I waited another week for any sign of activity at my post box and nothing. When I signed into the PC world business website, I noticed that the order had been canceled.

This is typical of what I have read about PC world in other reviews. They sucker you in with a mind-blowingly cheap price and then when you have been into the shop or visited their website, you find out that they dont have the items in stock (But we can offer you this alt£rnativ£ model sir.) I think that somehow they beleive that you will be stupid enough to maybe buy some other goods whilst they have you in the shop, however, I advise a visit to your local computer shop to compare prices with PC world's (If it hasnt been put out of business already.) Once you have compared prices, you will realise just how much profit PC world actually make on their stuff. What's worse is that they are buying 1000x the volume than your local small shop, so they will be getting the gear even cheaper.

We had a nice computer industry where people would help you out for free or for a small cost and you could buy components at good prices from local shops and tailor your own computer solution. What is happening now is that DSG retail has put these friendly local people out of business and replaced the quality components that had individual warrenties with rubbish that is made in china and france such as packard "Hell" and Advent (which are really re-badged cheap and nasty Asrock white label notebooks, etc.)

They are even so cheap that if you want the drivers so that you can install a new operating system, you have to pay PC world £30 for a cd.

Summary: Before visiting PC world, I urge you to visit your local computer shop, you'll save time and money.
