Pc world performance agreement and repair service leaves a lot to be desired (PC World)

Advantages: Financially the pc performance has covered costs that I couldn't have

Disadvantages: The laptop has suffered more damage in their hands than in mine

I bought my laptop from pc world about 4 years ago along with a pc performance agreement for £10 a month. The laptop worked well for 3 years and i was fairly happy with it until it developed an obvious problem with the battery/power. So I dug out my agreement and rang the techguys, they came to collect it the next day.

It was downhill from this point - it took them a month to get it back to me and when i finally got my hands on it, it was completely dead and wouldn't turn on. I called them again and they took it back and another two weeks later it was returned to me. Although i was frustrated by the amount of time it took them I was really happy with my laptop which was running faster than ever before.

Its now a year later and the power has failed again. I called and they took it away again and returned it half a week later. They had given me a replacement power lead and according to their report everything else is fine. I turned it on and surprise surprise it is not only still not charging but the right click button no longer functions and the dvd player won't read dvds.
Needless to say they are coming to collect it again tomorrow!

To sum up, of both the times they have 'fixed' my laptop it has come back in a worse state than when it left. Although i am appalled and I can't imagine what goes on whilst its in their hands in order for this to occur twice, if i didn't have the insurance with them i wouldn't have been able to afford a new laptop or the cost of the repairs and so in a round about way it has been worth it financially.

I hope this helps others be aware of what to possibly expect from pc worlds service.
