Disadvantages: you are left with the problem
i bought an acer desktop x3200 from pc world east kilbride on 25 aug 2009.
it started to make very loud rumbling noises which were making me think it was ready to pack in. i phoned pc world customer service,and they said they would not take it back after 28 days but said i had to speak to one of their techguys,who said i had to download a diagcd from their website and run it to do tests.now i am not a computer engineer i told him,and said that i spoke to acer warrenty and they said pc world should repair it or replace it.
he said they would not look at it until i had done what he said. i told him of my consumer rights but he was not the least bit interested.under frustation i took it to a local pc engineer who examined it and found the cooling fan screws were very loose. after tighting them the pc is now noise free. i think pc worlds conduct is dreadful and their after sales service is non existant. iwill send a letter to trading standards about them,and i have also e mailed them about it.
to anyone thinking of pc world or their techguys support beware.
Summary: will not shop there or currys or dixons again
