Dear Sirs,

I find myself in disbelief today having been treated very badly, twice on the same day by your organisation.

Firstly

I went to your store in Leeds (where I have made many purchases before) to buy a 60Gb IBM ATA100 HDD and 100 Blank CD R Media. Having seen the sign in your outlet before, I requested they ?price match? SCAN International of Manchester on the HDD which was only £74.61 at SCAN International, having had them do this before for me on a Motherboard and CPU. Much to my surprise they refused to do this.

I was first told by a member of staff that Scan International was outside the 25 Mile radius for the price match, and then this was confirmed by the manager who I asked to see, but in a most off hand manner.

My point was and is that the store doesn?t display this ?25 Mile Limit? anywhere although I asked to see it. My other point to your store Manager of the Day Steve, the day being 8th June 2002, was this store has price matched for me before and as such unless there has been a change in policy should again.

Secondly

Having rung your customer services and asked about these rules on price match, your advisor told me the rule was in fact ?10 MILES?. Does anyone including the PUBLIC have any idea WHAT IT IS?! Furthermore upon requesting to speak to a supervisor your member of staff told me he was going to hang up on me and end the call. I was at no time rude to your advisor and only asked why this information isn?t made public, or if it is, where I can read it? Then he did in fact hang up on me, although I told him I want to hold to speak to a supervisor.

I ask you is this the way to treat the people that make you rich and keep your store doors open? Without the paying public no business has a business and without a consistent set off rules to work by how are we meant to know where we st
and? It would seem this rule can be applied how the store Manager sees fit thereby deceiving the public.

This matter is going to be raised with Leeds Trading Standards and Leeds City Council first thing Monday morning. In the mean time I trust this matter will be dealt with and I will receive some kind of reply ASAP?

I hope you come to a satisfactory conclusion, once you have updated this opinion with the outcome please let me know. I rated 'useful' because of this and once the outcome is added to your op I will update me rating. Good luck
