Advantages: none

Disadvantages: damage to your printer

I recently called into another computer retailer,Computer World, and I noticed that they had a clearance lines basket near the checkout,in it were inkjet cartridges for Lexmark,Canon,Epson etc,the Lexmark ones were priced at £4.00 each,I asked the sales person,"why are they being sold off so cheap"He shown me the inside of the bottom flap on the box the cartridge was in,he pointed out the expiry date stamped on it,in this case, the date was 02 02.I bought all of them and sold them seperately on ebay, nice profit!I thought that I was on a good thing here,so I called in all the PC stores to see if I could find any more that was "out of date".Off I trotted to PC World,I went over to the shelf where they kept all the inkjet cartridges, and I started to look at all the boxes for the expiry date, every single one of them was out of date, some was 2 years past the date.I called an assistant over, pointed it out to him, that all the cartridges were out of date.I told him that I bought some from another PC shop, and I would gladly relieve them of a good quantity of the cartridges for a similar price that I had paid,He went to see his manager, came back and told me they are not prepared to sell them off any cheaper than the shelf price,£24.99+.I informed him that it is not proper practice to sell out of date goods to their customers for the full retail value,he said that they would remove them all and send them back to the supplier,I can`t see the supplier refunding all the money that PC World had paid for them,it`s not their fault that PC World could`nt sell them,it`s got to be like food items, what is`nt sold is discarded to protect the consumer. They would not part with a single one of them,It was on Saturday,6th July, when I called in to PC world,I went in again,today,10th July, and they still had all the outdated cartridges on the shelves. It looks like they are still prepared to sell out of date stock, they could`nt care less about their customers.I went into Currie
s on the same day,I checked the boxes for the expiry date, they too, had expired cartridges, they immediately removed them from the shelf, but would not sell them to me at a reduced price.I don`t know if they put them back afterwards(same firm as PC World)I would imagine that this thing is widespread in all the stores,so,my opinion is,check the expiry date on the boxes.I sent an e-mail to Lexmark asking them to verify if this was an expiry date, they replied, saying:- The date on the box is an expiration date, and recommend that I don`t put expired ink in my printer, also, return any expired cartridges to the retailer for a refund.I put one in my printer and it worked fine, but I can`t say for sure if some of the expired ones may cause printer problems, but since that e-mail from Lexmark,I will be very cautious,my buyers who bought the cartridges from me was informed of their expiry date.To sum it up,PC World don`t care less if their cartridges mess up your printer, they are still going to charge you big bucks for expired inkjet cartridges, and keep it quiet from unsuspecting customers.
MY ADVICE TO ALL OF YOU IS:- CHECK THE BOXES FOR THE DATE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE,FROM ANY STORE!!

Hello and welcome to dooyoo! :)

Sorry for the low rating but this review mainly rambles on about out-of-date ink cartridges and tells us nearly nothing about PC World.
For this review to be more useful it should include more relevant info/detail about PC World, it's products including anything you've bought from them (other than out-of-date cartridges).
Although what you tell us about the cartridges is quite interesting it doesn't give a good overall and objective/subjective view of the retailer.

Very good first opinion! Hard to read though...some spaces between paragraphs would make it easier.

Welcome to Dooyoo Tony.

A great first review tony but one quick tip is: leave spaces in your work so it is easier for others to read.

Great start, remember this is a learning experience!
